EC is indeed the real deal, and I was impressed with their team. The five starters are something to see, and they do play basketball on both sides of the floor which impressed me. Their only problem could be playing so many games in such a short time, against teams that will push them to the limit in the game as the TN team did last night. The EC players looked a bit tired late in the game last night, but they still had a big enough heart to win this game.

 

In saying all that, I look for a very close and good game to watch but I think CovCath will prevail by two or three...... To me at least, I question how fresh the legs of EC will be after playing and getting pushed to the limit last night and only subbing as little as they do.......

Doubt very much that you will see any Crazies there, and in fact if it weren't for adults, the gym would have been empty and that includes the kids from LC and LCA. I for one haven't seen any student cheering sections at all from any team. If the Crazies came out in the numbers they did against Mason County at MC, they would be going up against the adults of EC.....and that would be a blow out in the Crazies favor....The EC adult fans wouldn't know what hit them... :lol::lol:

Should be a great matchup. Cov Cath is a very well coached, disciplined team. They will not make many mistakes. They play a tough man to man defense and the take good shots. also very good from the free throw line.

 

Yesterday Franklin County could not hang with them as they were without two starters (one injured early first half, and their best scorer and athlete quit the team yesterday morning).

 

Elliott will take care of the ball as the Faulkers are very strong ball handlers. Elliott's team has unbelievable heart, and Ferguson is the best scorer in the state. If Elliott's ball handlers stay out of foul trouble they win this game by 8.

Of course you go say that about any team! If CovCath plays like they did against LexCath, St. X or even against MC in three of the four quarters, Elliott County will be in for a rude awaking but........that's way they play the game....

 

 

They play a pressure "D" from one end of the court to the other. Quite frankly, was more impressed with there "D" last night than the "O" because they go after the other teams players and get a lot of easy baskets by forcing TO's. It seems to me at least, that the reason they score so much is they get a lot of easy baskets, by making the other team make mistakes. I think when they start playing the MC, LexCath and CovCath type of teams who just don't make a lot of mistakes with the ball, you will see their scoring drop off big time. Now I am not saying they can't beat any of the above teams, but they won't get as many easy points as they seem to get when they start playing teams who take care of the ball...

Elliott plays man almost exclusively with a lot of trapping on the ball. It is a very swarming type defense that takes advantage of their quickness.

They play that impressive 2-1-2-1-2 trapping press - or at least that's how it appears. :thumb:

They do play something out there to get the ball either down the floor or get it from the other team. You gotta love those LIONS. :thumb:

I dont want to discount what Elliot Co has done and the amount of talent they have on that team but I know Coach Listerman's defensive scheme will thwart any 80 point outburst. Elliot has the quickness and dead eye shooters but if CCH gets a hand in their face and controls the boards like I know they will, it will be a closer game than most think. I predict CCH 69 Elliot Co 63 Final.
