After reading posts from the typical arrogant, thou art better than you, Catholic school fan, I will take Elliott by 10.

 

 

And who may I ask is the typical arrogant Catholic school fan who knocked Elliott Co? I know I gave them there just do and only questioned them being fresh with their legs with this being there third game in three day's without much subbing, and I think that is a fair question to ask!

 

BTW StickerMann and qryche11 are not to my knowledge CovCath fans, but I respect qryche11 view on Basketball very much....and ColonelCrazy, trust me, has been there done that, in regard to CovCath basketball, and many even more so in basketball in general, than dare I say, than most probably anyone on BGP's has........

For those of us who don't have a dog in the fight, it doesn't help when your supporters are out predicting big wins over established programs like CovCath and Mason either. Again, best of luck to them today and the rest of the tourney--I'm guessing they'll make a return trip to Lexington later in March after pounding a few more "Directional Carters" next year!!

Established programs don't win games...it's the players. Mason, CovCath, Elliott, Catholic..they all have quality players who will play the game well....Prevous state championship banners won't help (or hurt Elliott) now!

Don't get your shorts in a bind BM!! If you would have actually read my entire post, you'd understand that while I along with many would love to see a school like Elliott make a run in this tourney, against the likes of CCH, LexCath, and Mason; reality says you need to prepare for these games by playing similar competition, not padding your stats against teams you can beat for fun?? Coaches know when they're sitting on a great team and normally beef up their schedules if necessary to challenge them. (The fact that EC is in the 5/3rd this year points to that fact).

This tourney, the game at mason County, the Bourbon County showcase and Huntington High School have added quite a bit of muscle to the schedule. I don't think any game was scheduled to pad anybody's stats. The vast majority of the games were required through seeding and conference rules.

Let's get the thread back to discussing the predictions and take the other stuff, to the pm's.

I've only seen EC play this year and not CC. But after looking at the scores of CC, I'll take EC by 5. Now I know that isn't how you scout or judge teams, but I'll use it for this prediction.

The 35th which I know year in and year out is one of the top district in the Commonwealth (CovCath, CovHolmes, CovHoly Cross and Beechwood) play each other only once a year for seeding purposes. Why not just play one time for the purpose of seeding?

How big is Elliot County?

 

I have a hard time believing that the Colonels are going to have a hard time keeping 2 guys under 6'0'' off of the boards. They work on boxing out & rebounding too much for that to happen.

 

Elliot Co is actually pretty small.

But Timmy Knipp gets in early foul trouble.

 

Trust me, the Faulkners will hit the boards. Cath better keep a hand in Ferguson's face all night, he shot pretty bad last night and got 30. These three kids leave it all out on the court.

Come on Old Guy--You know I'm the "typical arrogant Catholic school fan, thou art better than you" and a huge supporter of CovCath, despite my public school background?? Actually just another on here trying to call it like I see it, but some can't seem to accept that?? If Elliott gets by CCH, blows them out, or whatever; I'll be glad to eat some crow and wish them well vs. probably Mason; but given what I see on paper (and saw of them last year) I just don't see it yet!! If the Elliott faithful don't like someone predicting a win by their opponent--Sorry, but it's "just my opinion" on this one game!!

 

And for what its worth, since several of you are so concerned with how Elliott will fair vs. Mason in the semis; I'll stick with my original pick--CovCath 70-55!!

It may come down to which team can impose its tempo on the other. I don't think Catholic can run and gun with Elliott, but I don't see Elliott handling Catholic in a half court game either. Should be a great game.

God points BM--I'm sure you are right that the winner will be the one who can force their style on the other team. It sounds like Elliott likes to run, run and run some more; while CCH likes to play a little more patterned game. CovCath will wing up the 3's on Elliott however, but it should be interesting. If Elliott can get the game get in the 70's or 80's or beyond, I like their chances!!
