MLB has no integrity!!! Bud Selig and his good ole boy network knew all about the steriods. They didn't stop it because it SAVED the game. So if the game has no integrity and Pete has none, then they cancel each other out.

From all that I have read and seen I was under the impression that he did. During his playing days he didn't bet on the team he was playing for, but did bet on other games.

I've faught like crazy for Pete. I got put into the BluegrasPreps Hall of Fame back in the early years of this website for winninng the overall high school football contest. You got one quote to keep and mine was if Pete couldn't get in then I didn't want in either. The more he talks, the less I fight for him. It stinks he isn't in and I can understand why but think he has paid his dues. I think the message has been sent. I just wish he would shut up. I think he hurts himself more than anybody (other than Selieg).

 

I can see you point about Pete still weighing in on different subjects. His record of honest leaves a lot to be desired but I still and always will believe that Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame. Yes, he gambled on baseball, his own team but gambling didn't get him any more base hits at all. Pete Rose Has More Base Hits Than Anyone To Ever Play This Great Game! Put an asterik or a side note stating that he was banned for gambling or whatever they feel neccessary but put him in the hall. A man with more base hits than anyone to ever play deserves it.

Rose is an A1 "Horse's Patoot", no one can argue that. So were some others already in the hall.

Zero integrity as a manager leads one to believe he had zero integrity as a player. Problem is, like I said in my first post, you can no longer believe anything Pete says.

 

We could go back and forth all day. Bottom line, Pete's the reason Pete is not in the HOF. Pete agreed to the lifetime ban and now Pete's realizing he's not bigger than the game.

This is a "dead horse award" subject but I just still talk it bc he was one of my favorite baseball players, the way he played the game on the field was great, all out hustle desire and love for the game. No, it is wrong, I agree. All I'm saying is if people get into the hall by using performance enhancing drugs, and Pete doesn't go in, then that's wrong..

 

:thumb: I agree, like I said before - gambling is not right and against the rules and so are roids, cream and other drugs.

IMO gambling did not get Rose one more hit and the perfomance enhancers jusy may have on others. Roids do not affect or improve hand/eye coordination that it takes to hit a baseball but the more strength obtained with the steroids just might improve bat speed along with some other factors that may get on some more hits.

How was he double-crossed? He applied. That was what the agreement said. He could apply. Never said he would receive reinstatement.

No one has said it isn't wrong. I'm just saying betting on baseball is MUCH more severe...IMO. (and a lot of other peoples opinion's too)

I was a Rose defender up till his book came out. For some reason, I bought his story hook, line and sinker that he did not bet on baseball.
