Arkansas / Petrino loses top recruit

Featured Replies

ESPN's Mike and Mike Show this morning reported that a top h.s. QB that had committed to Arkansas now has changed his mind/withdrawn his committment and has now said that he will be going to Boston College.

Reason: He changed his mind and re thought things after the hiring of Bob Petrino as head coach. The kid stated that with Petrino's record of honesty and commitment that he would not play at Arkansas and he has gone with Boston College.

The Mike and Mike crew did not give the recruits name or his h.s..

Maybe the fallout that some of us were saying might happen with kids/parents not wanting to play at a school with this guys reputation is beginning.

(on a side note, the guys on NFL live are calling him Bobby "Quitino", they called him that on air. What a wonderful endorsement and might I say well deserved )

I believe they said he was a Corner Back (but could have said Quarter Back).

You may be right, if so I had not heard them correctly and apologize. The message is still the same though.

My guess is you will see more of this in the future.

Good for him, seems like he would've given Ole Miss a look.

Again as a parent I would HIGHLY advise my child not to play for this coach. And I really hate to say that too...but sadly Petrino created this problem himself.

It was a CB from Sugar Land, TX who decommitted and then chose BC.

On the other hand, a qb who had offers from LSU, Bama, Kansas, Mizzou, and Tulsa decommitted from Tulsa and committed to Arkansas because of Petrino. The previous staff did not offer the kid because he's likely to be a high draft pick in the upcoming MLB draft. Petrino, not shockingly, said "no problem."

It will work both ways.

So they can leave at the same time next year???:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I hope he losses every recruit, and both McFadden and Jones go pro.

I can see some fall out/recruiting problems with Petrino his first few years(?) on the job. People used Pitino's traveling coaches show against us when recruiting while he was here. Reputation for jumping ships is hard to shake.

I'd like to see him struggle for a while, too, just to make him pay a little.

Bobby Petrino will be an easy target for other SEC coaches to recruit against.

The problem will be when they have to match him on the "X" and "O's" on Saturday. One can certainly question his moral fiber, but not his college football coaching ability.

Sad though because that is the only thing he's got going for him at this time.

Some good points made.

The reason why Bobby Petrino will get his fair share of top recruits even though he is a easy target to sell against, is because his system will afford some of the top notch players a great opportunity to play on Sundays. That is the big white elephant most of these kids are chasing......to be able to:

PLAY FOR PAY ON SUNDAY

:thumb: I agree 100%. The trend may pass if he stays at Arkansas but BP must prove that by his actions and not just coach talk.
