that was 27 years ago....... not a good "stepping stone" job

none of the Varsity coaches will be back (which is to bad). Doubt any of the Freshman coaches will return even though one is currently doing weights, I don't think the Principal will hire from within for the next coach

from what I hear about 40 but there was some confusion on who was there for "football" weights or other sports

Is this true? I personally know a GREAT young coach out in Texas that applied and he should definitely get consideration! I told him it is a pipe-dream because I figured the position would be more popular. He is young and firery and could be what the program needs.

Plus with open enrollment in Kenton County schools to be able to bring kids to Scott with it's facilities when you compare it to its sister school Dixie and its facilities. Multi million dollar field turf field, stands, track, locker room, ECT Verus a 30 year old facility with who knows what festering in the weight room/locker room. Hard to woo kids to Scott when they see Dixie’s place.

 

Then you have Holmes with what it has coming back. Meaning the district will be difficult to win in and make the playoffs. Lots of issues on and off the field to over come.

I agree Facilities help but lets not forget that Dixie Heights had arguablly the worst facilities in NKY until 2 years ago. There is a lot more to winning than Facilities. It wasn't the facilities that had students choosing to go elsewhere.

agreed but let's deal with the present day reality and the task ahead for the new coach to overcome. Dixie's facilities are a factor to draw kids away from the other two schools

Simmins that was refered to earlier was the MS HC a year or 2 ago at Woodland. The other MS coach with the "Championship ring" has coached on the HS level but never as a HC as far as I know.

 

the other question is if they are cleaning house are the coaches leaving the school and openning up teaching positions. You are going to have a hard time getting a staff without those openings. That will also restrict who gets a job past the HC.

I agree on the facility factor... but an athlete also looks at the head coach, the football staff, the won/loss record and if the graduating seniors have an opportunity to play football at the next level. IMO.. Dixie would be the easy decision for me. Dixie will be the easy decision until the Kenton Co. school system keeps the student athletes in the school district where they reside.

 

I hope Scott takes their time in this very important decision making process and chooses the man that will right the ship! I also hope that the person selected will have the intestinal fortitude to demand the necessary changes to Scott's HS facilities.

I agree but if a kid lives in a certain school district and doesn't want to go to that school even without open enrollment they have options. Winning is the biggest draw for athletes IMO.

They need to get a coach to keep the great athletes at the school. Good luck!!

That right there is going to limit who you can get and who they can bring in. Without open teaching spots you narrow the pool and not having the coach(es) in the building I think hurts the program. Programs need faces in the school to help get those kids.

to be honest I don't remember the last time there was more than two coaches in the building. Most years there is only one(the head coach)
