Great athletes? many good ones not many great. Again it comes down to who wants to work to get better. Not many want to put in the time nor effort to becaome great:confused:

Heard through the grape-vine they have about 15 applications and will be going through them asap. They need to have a Coach in place by at least Jan 15th that would give him some time to evaluate the program and get ready for spring practice. When it is all said and done I think everyone will be surprised about who the new Coach is, I personally think they will get someone with experience and has the ability to handle every situation that is thrown at him. This is just my opinion but I think Scott finally realizes they need to make a big splash with their new Coach.

Why Jan. 15? Is this some special day in high school football:confused:

All I said is that this would give the new Coach some time to evaluate the program and get ready for spring practice. Just used this date because it is half way through the month and, obviously, you don't want to go into the month of February without a Coach.

I agree... however I am sure there are slots needed to be added. (Head coach and his assistants.) Also, interviews can be timely. Hopefully, someone at Scott is there to start the conditioning and weight lifting program through the start of Spring football. If the athletes are just sitting around getting fat... it will certainly be a long road to hoe in their efforts to turn the program in '08.

Once the Head Coach is chosen he will fill his spots with the Assistants and choose the Freshmen Coach and JV Coach.

I just thought there was something special with that date. guess not. Agreed the sooner the better but if the past is any indication it will take longer than the 15th to get a new coach on board.:banana:

SCOTT FOOTBALL: Scott athletic director Ken Mueller said Thursday that the school has received "about 20" applications for its vacant head football coaching position. It stopped accepting applications Jan. 1.

 

"We're just getting ready to put the committee together and then we'll go over applications," he said. "We've had a lot of out-of-towners apply. I think we've got some good prospects."

 

Former coach Casey Fisk, who went 7-24 in three seasons, resigned in November after leading the Eagles to the school's second playoff appearance. The program has produced just one winning season in 30 years of football.

20 people applied thats not to bad. I hope they pick a good one and they stick with it but it will be hard with the adminstration that Scott has now.

just wonder if 20 really applied or just showed interest. The last time the job came open 15 people sent resumes/letters of inquire but only a handful truely applied.

Applicants reduced last week to about 6 who will be interviewed sometime this week
