You can look at it however you want but this UK team should have Rondo at point, Meeks at guard, Jasper at forward, Patterson at PF and Morris at C. With Crawford and the others off the bench. That is the team Tubby recruited.

 

I did not include Jasper because we don't know if he'll be back this season.

Tubby NEVER got anyone to back these guys up, and he knew that the talent would be there for them to leave early. Defend him all you want, but it still comes down to not recruiting to the level he had to to suceed at the "Elite" level.

 

On a side note, everyone (Talking Heads)talks about part of our problem being parity in NCAA ball now. Fine. Someone needs to tell NC, Duke, Kansas, UCLA and the other "Elites" that parity has caught us all!

The TALENT level Tubby left us is a shambles.

 

He set the program back to the stone age.

 

He went after a target guy, when the guy inevitably said no to us, he went straight to the picked over bargain basement.

 

The one guy that BCG brought in (Patterson, with Legion gone for now) is carrying his load, Meeks is as good as advertised from Tubby's tenure, and the rest would have never been looked at by a Pitino, Williams or most other major program coaches, IMO. We have what would be role or minutes players as starters now. We've had problems every since we were starting Stockton!

People we would never have looked at, much less signed, when we were for real are STARTERS now. This is going to take a Major rebuild to even resemble our old talent levels.

Porter was also supposed to be a quick, defensive stopper too. That's sure not panning out too well! The only players on UK's roster that should be playing D-1 basketball are Crawford, Bradley, Patterson, Jasper, Meeks, and well, Legion if he still counts. Porter is horrible. Harris never will contribute, like I have stated in previous posts. Stevenson is just tall. And I don't even want to talk about Coury. Thanks Tubby! :irked:

Stockton was one of the worst KY Mr. Basketball's of all time. He was 5'9, fat, and got cut by the EKY Miners. That should say all we need to know about him.

Was Epps a supposed UK caliber player?

Chuck Hayes?

Cameron Mills?

Shagari Alyne, SAUL SMITH, Cory Sears, Brandon Stockton (can't forget the Tubster's pet), Sheray Thomas, Bobby Perry and the list would go on. For the ones he lucked into playing at the level, he loaded up with some others, too, that weren't quite there..

That's not the "pick a problem with Tubby" selection this week.

Minnesota had WORSE talent returning. They won 9 games last year. And Tubby already has them EQUALLING their road win TOTAL for last year and they have won either 4 or 5 games already this year.

Tubby has more problems than what could be discussed on every forum on BGP. And now that you mention, why would he recruit a guy like Brandon Stockton and not someone like say, I don't know......CHRIS LOFTON, LOFTON, LOFTON (Echo).

If Tubby is to take any blame it would be cause of the PF spot. Not having a PF since Chuck Hayes is ridiculous.

I disagree. By reputation and HS experience, they should have.

 

Problem was, these guys are not coachable, IMO.

They don't want to put the time in to work at it. And they lack quickness. No one out there can blow past anyone.

 

Rather than lacking shooters, they lack speed more to create open shots. Presently, they are usually shooting contested shots.

 

When Rondo became an issue, they lost the ONLY player they had that could make his teammates better by breaking down the defense and creating open shots.

If you have a crystal ball and know the future, I would invest putting some money down on some teams and becoming rich.

 

I don't have one and cannot tell you who will win the NCAA title because (unlike football) the best team for the season doesn't win the NCAA basketball national championship.
