At this point in the season (without Jasper and Meeks), this team has, by far, the worst starting 5 of any Kentucky team I've seen in my life time. I was a baby in the Sutton/early Pitino days - so I dont know if any of those can compete or not - but as I said, in my life time, this takes the cake.

Porter and Coury are batteling for the worst player (playing significant minutes) in Kentucky history and Crawford and Bradley are batteling for the biggest letdown in Kentucky recruiting history. Patterson, the only beacon of light, has not even had a great game today against IU.

So my question to you all is: Is this the least talented UK starting 5, and/or team, in UK history?

I don't think I would give them the worst crown but they are definitely close.

I don't know but BCG must really like horse racing. He left a good ball club for a really bad situation. I hope everyone gives him time. He's gonna need it.

I don't know, those guys in the 1910's were kinda rough....

This 5 is very bad.....but you gotta think that 2 of the 5 starters are hurt...

The only players on the team that should be playing D-1 basketball are Bradley, Crawford, Patterson, Jasper, and Meeks, and would be Legion. We are just bad!

I agree except it was 1.5 (Bradley rotated with Meeks) Jasper is BY FAR the best defender on this team, and I would probably go as far as to say the best defender at the 1.

It's probably the worst shooting team. They absolutley cannot put the ball in the basket. That got them beat a lot last year. Until we get some players in there that can shoot, this is what you got to look forward to.

I used to wonder how Arkansas fell so fast after their title. Now we're getting to live it!

I've been watching KY since 1968..this is HANDS DOWN the worst I have ever seen!!

Example of talent that does not mean success.

1966-67, UK went 13-13. You would think a very minimally talented team.

Starters and their scoring averages were:

Louie Dampier (6-0 Sr. G) 20.6

Pat Riley (6-4 So. F) 17.4

Thad Jaracz (6-5 Jr. C-F) 11.3

Cliff Berger (6-8 Jr. C) 11.3

Phil Argento (6-0 So. G) 5.2

Three of these guys were starters on the NCAA runnerup team.

They are VERY bad. Coury should be off playing at Pikeville or somewhere like that.

Lets not get carried away now. Stewart is definitely worthy of a D1 school and Stevenson has shown signs of life that he deserves to be at this level as well.

That being said, at 25 years old it is hard for me to remember a group any worse. Sure Pitino had it rough with his first squad, but he still had Derrick Miller who could always put the ball in the basket and Reggie Hanson who was solid.

Patterson is really the only one on this squad as it stands now that can put the ball in the basket on a consistent basis, and he as a post player must depend on those around him for his shots. Miller never really had to worry about that. With the 5 that started today, yes, it is probably the worst that I know of. I feel Gillispie is trying to make a point showing that working hard in practice and doing the right things on defense will get you playing time like Coury and Porter are getting now, but those two guys really shouldnt be sniffing the court at UK.
