Should the SEC redo scheduling?

Featured Replies

Most people agree the SEC is the toughest conference in college football. If the two top ranked teams had not lost last weekend the SEC wouldn't have had a team in the championship game. I think we see what a toll playing 8 conference games a year takes on teams, and it hurts their chance to make the title game. Should they look at playing everyone in your division and maybe only one or two teams from the other division?

No. They should keep it like it is.

Playing teams only within your Division, would and could eliminate rivalry games, possible Top #25 matchups and would create scheduling conflicts, if mandated.

Having multiple teams considered for BCS spots, is a tremendous honor and until a Playoff system is in place, nothing will ever eliminate the SEC or any conference, from possibly facing the same thing.

Keep in mind, that both Missouri and Kansas were in the top #5, when playing late in the year.

Keep it the way it is. The SEC is known for its brutality and it toughens these teams up come bowl season. BTW it makes for good TV!

To add to your point in the first graf: The other thing a division-only schedule would do is knock things completely out of balance in that invariably one division is almost always stronger than the other. And it would force the teams to scramble for seven non-conference games to fill the schedule.

Keep it the way it is.

Keep it the way it is. There are crazy good match-ups to watch every week.

Keep it the way it is, but move the Florida/UK game to the last game of the year. Every other year those Florida players would have to deal with weather they are definitely not used to dealing with. Not saying it would lead to a UK win, but it couldn't hurt.

Florida always gets FSU at the end and UK always gets Rocky Top. Keep it the way it is.

Keep it. However, I think the PAC-10 and the Big Ten need to have Conference Championship games. The Big East also. Then all of the Major Conferences would have them.

Ohio State would be out of the championship game if that happened.

Agreed.

At very worst, the Big 10 needs to move the last week of their season back AT LEAST a week.

I disagree. Despite the loss to Illinois, OSU is the best team in the Big 10.

And if LSU would have taken care of business against Arkansas it wouldn't of matter who lost last week. If the SEC did do what you suggest above LSU would still have two losses.

How do you suggest those leagues get to 12 teams???

Why do they have to have 12 teams to have a conference championship?
