It felt like March in early December in the Fairview gym tonight. Both schools had good crowds that were very vocal.

 

Euton had a double-double scoring 14 and pulling down 11 boards. Jackson had 27 points and 8 boards. I don't have stats for Fairview, but Hall and Collins played big. This was a brutal half court contest, with a lot of banging and bumping inside the 3pt arc.

 

A true old school style game. :thumb:

 

 

 

7 points by the supporting cast does not bode well......especially against Fairview, a team that was 10-16 last year.....

I figured that with the rather subpar opening game by the highly touted Rose Hill team, that some discussions would ensue regarding their supposed lofty status in the 16th region.

 

It's just the first game of the year, a long way to go, but some of us enjoy over reacting and blowing things out of proportion. : )

I was at the game. The fouls were probably almost 2 to 1 called in Fairviews favor. IMO, fairview needs to use their big guy a little more. Hall and Collins both really like to shoot , but are pretty good at it.

A little lower scoring than I anticipated, but I figured it would be close.

I sat behind the Fairview bench, and during one of the 2nd half timeouts I could clearly tell that the Fairview players were confused. I saw Rex pitch the dry erase board down on the chair and it looked something like this:

Bobby Hall is doing color for WLGC I think. Quality officials are lacking in the 16th. Come on Bob, drop the mike and put the stripes back on.

 

Bobby has been out of town the past two weeks. He will be back blowing his whistle soon.

Hey ref, I don't know the guy's name, but the grey haired tall guy (resembles a bald eagle) who was on Joe Billman's crew tonight was brutal. Someone told me that Bobby Hall was supposed to be on this crew. Bobby, where in the world were you? Uncle Sam struggles, both ends.

 

Was truly impressed with how good a player that Cameron Hall was. He's a player. Rose Hill missed 15 layups. Some were no-calls, some were not.

I counted at least 8-9.

I think the style of play Rose Hill and Coach Fraley is employing this year will give them their best chance to upset Elliott County. A run and gun style would put up more points and lopsided victories but not a good chance to cut down the nets in Morehead come March.

They are orginally from Boyd County (that should be enough said) Old man has a Grandson that plays for the Hill. Shall we call these birds PENGUINS or a Boyd County HOWDY. Nothing should surprise you, especially a certain coach that took about 30 pages of notes on both of the teams....mmmmmm

Everyone gets caught up in the heat of the moment haha. I saw a couple of notable BGPers getting a little hot under the collar at the men in stripes. But not the new and slimmer Big Bubba. He was calm, cool, and collected.

Wow! The big 2 combined for 41 of the teams 48 points just as everyone thought no other scoring support. I'll give them this it is just the 1st game, but cannot win many games like this.
