I was there, and that was one SMALL gym! Not hardly enough room for me to stand at the end to take pics. I don't know what the number of fouls were for both teams but I thought it was a pretty well called game. The refs were letting them play down low and that caused a lot of the missed shots. The paint area was not for the timid or weak of heart.

I found it funny watching coach Cooksey prowling the court. He was all the way to half court whenever his team was on the opposite end from him. But I'll say this for him; he's always coaching. Seems like he was giving instruction constantly to his boys.

 

 

Wonder why Fairview hasnt looked at a replacement Gym? You would think with some of the talent there and some of the past players sons there and some good financial support in the area, that they cant get a new Gym.

 

Look at a small school like Raceland, they have a top notch facility.

I think that was due more to Rose Hill's assistant coach that year. That guy was a coaching genius. :sssh:

No, Rex is 15 feet out on the floor, the officials had to physically go around him nearly every trip. And I don't want to hear the "it's a small floor" deal. Fraley managed to coach without being in the lane.

I'm reminded of this year's Ashland at Mason County football scrimmage this year. Mason County was a little better; a couple of Tomcat fans started complaining that Mason's head coach was on the field (he was a few steps onto the playing surface). THAT's ILLEGAL!! THAT'S AGAINST THE RULES!! was the complaint.

 

I don't know whether the same rules apply in scrimmages or not; but I was always under the impression that there was a designated coaches box in basketball.

I too thought that but was told that it does go onto the floor a little in the small gyms. Was told it had to.

Make fun of him all you want but it will be a different story the next time Fairview plays the Royals. Rex has really developed into a fine coach over the years and besides that he has a basketball guru in Jeff Hall helping him.

Saw him scouting at Ashland-Boyd game, sitting in the aisle Fire Marshall kept making announcement, dont block the aisles.
