December 2, 200718 yr Anything better than a C is to much. Considering the whole of his career, the resources he has had, and the amount of success he has achieved, it will take quite a bit to convince me that he has been a great coach at UK considering the talent he has in his senior class this year. You make a few decent points but he gets a B on back to back bowls alone , IMO. Any UK fan can tell you how important that has been.
December 2, 200718 yr B-,a 2-5 record in last 7 games of season is not good, after a 5-0 start. Just a question, was the last seven games all against SEC opponents, and who was the the other win against? I know that one of them was against LSU but could not remember who the other team was!
December 2, 200718 yr I give him a B. Coach Brooks took over a probation ridden team with reduced scholarhips and has taken them to consecutive 7 win seasons and bowl games, and has recruited the talent to UK where they had a chance to win every week. Put in the context of the history of UK football, isn't that worthy of an A?
December 3, 200718 yr A. I now look forward to watching UK games, travel to away games and ponder the future of the program. 3 years ago I could not have said this. I have always followed the program, but now I feel like they have given me a REASON to follow other than loyalty. Regardless of where it goes from here Coach Brooks has done a lot for the program, period.
December 3, 200718 yr B-. He has done a pretty good job at UK. I don't think his next couple of years will be that great. I'll give him a high B. As for the future, we may not equal the highs of this year, but I don't think UK will automatically become a non-factor in the SEC either. We won't see how good the Cats will be until the recruiting classes are finalized. Hopefully the last 2 years will help in that area and Brooks can continue to build the program.

I think that you may have misunderstood, the thread said Coach Brooks, not Coach Kragthorpe, of course the tonly ones that would give that guy as high a C are quite possibly in is immendiate family.
December 3, 200718 yr I would give him a solid B+. Not only did he coach fairly well this year but we got a few recruits during the season that normally would have went elsewhere and that figures in here as well. He beat Louisville, LSU, Arkansas (in Arkansas). Had he been able to beat Mississippi State and South Carolina like they had the talent to do he would have gotten a solid A. However, posting back-to-back 7-5 seasons with back-to-back bowl berths at Kentucky of all places, that has to give you a C+ to a B. Throw in the recruits and Brooks definitely earned his B+ this season.
December 3, 200718 yr I would give him a B+. I didn't think Brooks was the guy that UK needed when he first took over. He proved me wrong. He gained the respect of the players and that was enough evidence for me to believe that he was moving in the right direction. People are now talking UK football in a positive manner and the Cats will be going to a Bowl for the second straight year so it evident that Brooks has done his homework and passed the test.
December 3, 200718 yr B+. Got the Wildcats through the depths of probation the RIGHT way. Possible back-to-back Bowl victories. If they were 8-4 or 9-3, he would get an A or A-.

Are you serious? I view a "C" as barely sustaining the success of teams before (i.e. just average by UK's standards). That is not even close to the case. UK won more than 1 game, once again, in the SEC and in every single contest they lost, they were in the game throughout. There was not the 49-0 manhandling's by LSU, not the 75-14 shalackings by Florida. That is substantial progress for UK since he took over.
December 4, 200718 yr B+ You can't deduct points from the coach's score because of a missed field goal against Tenn. Brooks had us in position to win the game, as he is supposed to do.
