Gallatin Co 76 Walton-Verona 71

Featured Replies

Are you serious? If so, you were watching an entirely different game than I was. Typical Gallatin/Walton game, the same formula can be used for all their games; Walton's "A" game + Gallatin's "D" game = a close win for Gallatin. For once in the previous 3 or 4 years I am glad to wake up this morning and not see 15 post on here about how the refs screwed Walton. Both teams have major issues, but the good thing is there is 3 months to get them fixed.

Just trying to get alittle conversation going about the game. Walton's extended future is definetly bright. Best of luck to Walton the rest of the year.

I'd agree with that!

What did that Kid say to the ref's? To get kicked out? Anyone hear him? Or what he said? Was crazy last night.

It's always crazy when these two play. I think the rivalry is there, Walton thinks their better than Gallatin and Gallatin thinks their better than Walton. Thats whats high school hoops so special.

Are we even allowed to talk about these kind of leagues on this website? Are you referring to bush league?

It has taken me a few minutes to respond to this one, due to laughing so hard. Don't you know some women have weak bladders.:laugh:

Martin had a good game for Walton. Ponzer is integral for the teams sucess. Jones also had good game. Kirk threw up about 30 shots with only 3 going in, so I'm not so sure why Jeanie says kirk made big baskets late in the game. Sullivan made some big baskets when needed. I'd say Walton will be just fine. Kirk needs some work on his defense. It helps Walton for Palmer to play the defensive end of the floor for Kirk. Good team effort for Walton, but Ponzer cannot foul out. Think they need his defense, and they run the offense better when he is in.

Okay, Kirk didn't hit shots like normal, but he did hit some key threes. He's the only one on that team, that will keep shooting. After Jones air balled that one three early. He thought about all his other shots. Which he shouldn't do. Jones' is the best shooter on the team. Martin kept the game close. He was all over the place. And Kirk battled just fine down low. He was out sized and out skilled in the post. Kirk isn't use to playing down low yet. Give him some time. And Ponzer, yeah he has solid 'd' but sometimes, he got out of control. He tried to do to much. Walton is better with him on the floor, but sometimes I wonder why he tried to split through the whole Gallatin's D. Harper, played good though when he had to fill for ponzer. Took ball to the rim well.

I think Kirk took many shots. I agree that Jones sometimes thinks about his shot, and just won't shoot it, but Kirk took many shots that weren't needed. Ponzer played solid. He gets the 'O' going. Each team played tough and show'd great talent. Rematch will probably be even more NUTS!:ylsuper:

#30 Henson has started out the year for Gallatin tough. He is still rusty from football too, if he would have hit all of his shots it would have been a different game. He probably had more rebounds than points. Walton had no answer for him, but I know Kirk worked really hard. There are other teams out there that have much bigger kids in the post than Henson, so Kirk will have his hands full.

Yeah. Henson was tough! I liked how he works downlow. And did miss many 'bunnies' but those will come in time!

BBFanTimesTwo, you can't hate on Kirk. He's played a guard all his life, and now is moved to the CENTER. You can't hate on Kirk because he isn't use to playing down there. Kirk played hard. Agreed teammomaholic!:D

Hate on Kirk? Definitely do not hate on Kirk. Good kid to have on your team. Just thought took to many shots when they werent going in for him. Get it in the hot hands. I think Martin and Ponzer kept the game close with their stellar defense and both 17 and 15 points respectively. If they hadnt fouled out, outcome might have been different. In any event, I like the way Walton plays as a team. When one person isnt hitting, usually someone else is. Looks good for Walton this year.

I should have known that if anybody was going to catch my mistake it was going to be you.:D:D

I've always gotten the impression (perhaps faulty) that W-V and their fans were offended by being shipped to the 8th Region, which prevented the rivalry between two very close schools geographically from being what it could (should) be.

I will confess I'm pretty far removed from the school I graduated from and have only seen them play twice (I think) in the last 10 years or so, so things may not be as I perceive them.

I would disagree with them being offended. What region would you rather be in, the 8th or 9th? Other than the travel...I think they would much rather be in the 8th, especially now that Scott County is gone to the 11th.

I don't know how anyone could have watched that game last night and come away saying that there isn't a rivalry. It's evident both on the floor and in the stands. Both teams played extremely hard and that makes it fun to watch. Good luck to both teams thru out the rest of the season.

I agree, There is a level of added intensity everytime these two teams play both on the court and in the stands. Any game that makes a very elderly lady give the double finger to the opposing bench should probably be considered a rivalry game. :D

I take it that she was not giving your bench the peace sign!:p

I saw that:laugh::laugh:

I disagree with your assessment on shooting ability. Gallatin has had a total of five practices with all of their players due to their recent success in football. It takes a while to get back into basketball shape and knock the rust off from playing a different sport. Walton shot the ball well last night, but I like Gallatin's shooters with extended practice. :thumb:

Gallatin has been finished with football for three weeks now...why only five practices as a whole team?

Congrats to the Wildcats, by the way.

Anyone have the scoring?
