To get back on topic, i thought it was a very entertaining game to watch . Two teams with very contrasting styles that play extremely hard. It was W-V 's ball movement and perimeter shooting vs. Gallatin's passing and cutting. When W-V knocks down perimeter shots like this game, they will be very hard to beat. I expect a very similar game at Gallatin in January in the All "A" .

Partly because of the perception that the GC folk think that the W-V folk look down their noses at them. Another reason for the rivalry is the All "A". In recent years, GC and W-V have combined to win 3 of the last 4 8th Region All "A" titles. GC won in 2006 and 2007, while W-V won in 2004. Conventional wisdom suggests that the winner of the January contest probably has the best shot at the title this year, although not guaranteed.

I totally agree. It was a very entertaining game to watch. Walton had an opportunity to open the game up with two fast break chances at the beginning of the 4th qtr and didn't convert either one. So instead of being up 10 - Gallatin converted and Walton was only up 2. I would imagine with the talent thats coming up thru both systems, WV and GC should be battling each other for the All "A" over the next 4 or 5 years.

A point to ponder: Wonder why "MACK THE KNIFE" hasn't chimed in on this thread? Has he started his christmas shopping early? Maybe he was sent on a scouting mission by Gallatin's staff? Maybe he was there and is just waiting for the right oppurtunity to jump in with his clever wit and insight. Time will tell.

I agree 100% I just don't see how people can say this is not a big rivalry game. I now that Owen was good last year and made for some good games with Gallatin but I think overall the past 5 years the Walton Gallatin games have been hated rivals. Plus it seems to grow with every game.

A little.But I just don't think one player would have changed this game. Walton and Gallatin are evenly matched. As long as Carlton isn't 6'5 and a D1 player, this game was going to be close no matter what. These games are normally always close. One player doesn't change that. And everyone from Gallatin has been saying how Gallatin plays as a TEAM, why are they now saying Carlton would make such a big difference? Sounds like thats using some 'I' in that team play Gallatin has? But thats just IMO. This game was close throughout and was going to be close. I mean, Carlton is a solid player, but I think that this game was going to be won by 5 or less no matter if Gallatin was fully stacked or as they were on Friday.

Walton's "A" Game to Gallatin's "D"? I think not. Walton played hard, played good, and Gallatin played solid. Each team scored in the 70's so, each team shot the ball well. I think Walton is just as good as Gallatin. Gallatin beats them up inside, but Walton as a team SHOTS WAY BETTER. Gallatin has no pure shooter that can stand and knock one down all day long. Walton has a few shooters that can.

 

You said it stand around and shoot! Walton does nothing but stand outside fire and hope something good will happen. Could explain why it seemed like Gallatin Co. got all the tough rebounds. Let's hope WV gets this fixed.

Yeah. I agree. Walton has great shooters at all spots. Each person they have on the floor or throw into the game, can stand and shot the ball! But thats why Gallatin won. They rebounded the ball and just kept putting up put backs, till they finally scored. That's the downfall to Walton's game.

It would have made a difference because Walton would of got at least two free throws and the ball. He is always good for one in these games.:devil:

I would ask define "a little". I'm not saying that one player makes a difference, but adding him into the mix with Maddox and the rest would have helped the Wildcats and possibly not sent the game to overtime.

 

Apparently, you don't know much about the Wildcats program. Especially the "I" in team comment. These kids have been on the court together for quite some time. I respect your opinion, but unless you have followed these kids for some time, posting something like that is a bit reckless. IMO:thumb:
