I agree there would have to be some question of the legitimacy if UGA were to get in. But it isn't the first time a team didn't win their conference and played in the national title game.

This was a travesty.....White stays soft as he ever has, and now OSU gets to go in, and again be a sham.....that said....is Mizzou goes down as well, who does OSU play, UGA, who didn't even win the SEC? I would bet that there will be some talk if that were to happen, especially since OSU and UGA aren't even close to being a legit national champ.

 

Makes me think of Nebraska a few years ago when they played in the NC game but didn't win their conference... Hard for me to believe in a system that can crown a national champ who isn't even a conference champ...Crazy times...

To play devil's advocate, there are many occasions where a team wins the NCAA tournament without being champions of their conference. The 1996 UK team was not SEC Tournament champs.

I'll never get past USC losing to Stanford. I don't care what they're doing right now, they lost to STANFORD.

Monsterous difference. That Kentucky team (along with other "non-tournament winning" teams) still had to win six games in the playoffs. Nebraska a few years back (and possibly Georgia this year) are automatically placed in the championship without having to win anything. Completely different scenarios.

If these two teams play, someone will be one game from being a National Champ. You may not think the are legit but the winner whomever it may be will certainly wear the ring well.

When expecting "normalcy," it rarely happens. This has to be Exhibit A (or maybe R, as many examples as we have already seen) for a playoff. There is no fair way to pick two teams.
