Elliott County @ Morgan County

Featured Replies

RA09,

I really doubt there were any comments that would make bulletin board material at ECHS coming from Coach Perry. I have talked with him quite frequently the last several days and the description about Elliott County's team would make a lot of people there feel pretty good and thank him for the compliments.

Elliott County fans should grab a West Liberty newspaper on Wednesday night and they will see the amount of respect that there is for the Elliott Co. team and players.

I feel Morgan County must play solid basketball on both ends of the quart and meet the energy level of Elliott County. Make shots and defend hard are the keys for Morgan Co.

Elliott County scores in bunches and makes furious runs (13-0, 20-2) type runs in very short periods of tiime. Any team wanting to knock off the undisputed #1 Elliott Co. Lions will have to manage those Elliott County runs.

Looking forward to a large crowd on Friday night.

It will also be a special night, as Morgan County will retire the jersey's of former Morgan County great Whitney Allen, who was taken in March of 2005. He was a starter on the 2004 16th Regional Championship team.

The people from Elliott County are amazing. You would do anything to discredit coaches and players from around the region. I know you have a "great" team but they are beatable. Does this mean it will happen by an in region team, I'm not for sure, but I hope so.

Emotion! I don't think anybody is trying to "discredit" anyone else. Teams, coaches, fans, parents, and students always elicit strong responses from other teams, coaches, fans..... That's what makes sports fun. Enjoy the season....the only person who can "discredit" someone is themslef. I respect Morgan's team. They have strengthened the region recently. I'm proud of the small schools of the 16th!

I think Elliott wins on Friday----at least I hope so.

Did Whitney Allen pass away?

My statement was directed towards RA09, who seems to be making up false information to elicit some type of negative response. I for one believe all the coaches in the 16th Region have nothing but respect and admiration for the athletes at Elliott County. They play the game with heart and desire which isn't always the case in high school athletics. Good luck to both teams and may the best team win.

No disrespect to the Cougars, but I really have a hard time seeing them stay within 20 of the Lions at this point in the season.

The Cougars had better be able to break a tenacious press and control the ball or it could get ugly fast, not to mention being a very long night for them.

Did Whitney Allen pass away?

Yes, in a car wreck returning form the girls district game. 2 others were killed also. Whitney's sister died of cancer when she was in the 2nd grade. That was the only two children they had.

I was not trying to disrespect anyone. I was told Perry made some rash statements on a radio show. I never said that that rumor was completely true or written in stone, that is why I said "the word." It could be completely untrue. Also, it was said on here that Perry "liked his chances" aganist Elliott County. I was also told he predicted a win in West Liberty's newspaper. Like I stated earlier it could be untrue.

You are right on, Elliott County by 20+ with the potential to get ugly quickly.

I live on the farthest end of Elliott Co away from West Liberty and I heard a couple stories

just like RA09 did, that Perry said that Elliott was only a first half team and He had their number. I f he said this fine who cares but I'm sure RA09 wasn't trying to dicredit anyone he was just telling what he heard, and how would this discredit him anyway? I've heard plenty of coaches on all levels say they were going to beat so an so and knew just what it took to take them down!! That would mean they are confident!! How would telling about them saying that discredit them!!

How is it false information if it was stated on a radio show and in the local newspaper?

Most info in the news and on radio is false!!:dancingpa

Good luck to both teams and may it be a game of fairness. It seems one family was not treated fair. I willbe thinking of them during the game. May the angles surround you. ! !

I know Coach Perry personally, as we have been friends for some time, and he said none of the above but why should I defend him. He is trying to prepare the Cougars to have a better season than last year. He believes his team is better offensively this year than last. At least this season, they have players who are giving their all instead of just going through the motions. Could that be why he feels more confident than last season. If anyone understands the talent at Elliott County it would be Coach Perry. His teams' were handled easily by the Lions last season and they return everyone. Elliott County is by far the most talented team in the region but they are not invincible. As for what Coach Perry supposedly said he was quoted as saying that this would be a game in which the Cougars would have to play almost perfect to win. I take it as though he respects the Lions and is preparing his team with these intentions. As for Elliott County being a first half team and the Cougars having their number, that information is totally false. The rumors are flying early in the season and the season is yet to start for most teams. Good luck to both teams as I mentioned in an earlier post and may the best team win.
