Nice artcle. But I would like to offer a little advise to the Lincoln fans. Our stands are great and there should be plenty of seating for everyone. As you face the stands the sections are split fairly even with the Visitors side to the right of the 50 as you face the stadium and the home side to the left. Actually the 50 is a little more home side. So if you sit directly behind your team, you will probably be sitting in a Highlands fan seat that has been sitting there for the past 30, 40, or 50 years. The fans that sit in those seats are usually an older crowd that don't want to walk up the steps. Their generally not the kind of people to abuse opposing team players. But if you sit in their seat, well your on your own.

Great point Henry. If the LC folks sit on their side of the mid bleacher split, I'm sure things will be fine. Actually if they sit in the visitors area, they will partially be sitting behind their team as the visitors area extends to approx mid field. We "assign" our students to an area that is not behind the visiting team to make sure there aren't any problems with over exuberant students. Basically the Highlands fans that sit behind part of the visiting team are the elderly Highlands fans that can't physically make it higher up in the bleachers (like my parents for example). They certainly aren't the rowdy type! And from what I know and have heard about LC fans, they are very respectful and classy people so I don't anticipate any problems with them sitting on the Highlands side since the visitors side provides the same views. I'll be really disappointed in LC if that's not the case.

 

I'm really looking forward to this game as I think its going to be a close, hard hitting and well played game. The last thing any of us fans should do is create "off field drama". I'm hoping that when I get back on this site tomorrow morning, all I read about is how well and hard both teams played and how each program's fans respected one another and how well the LC fans were treated on their visit to Highlands. Best of luck to both teams, but GO BIRDS!

You're right LN, Henry. My parents sit in that section too. My aunt and her husband do as well. I know that they do cheer kinda loud and the cow bells........well, sorry to LC for that. You're just lucky my dad got rid of the big blue horn and the red air horn. That guy had more stuff around his neck walking into the game and it was a wonder that he didn't tip over. Then of course you got the folding clip-on chairs. LC fans, don't get upset but, in that section there will be many of these. The people that bring these "chairs" probably need them to keep them from falling off the bleachers. Please be a good sport and don't take my parent's seats since that have been there for years. I wish luck to both teams, but 99.999999999 of it is directed at HHS. Go Birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

PS, funny that only two viewing at 5:30am. Guess just me and LN are the only ones crazy enough to be up this early.

4700 according to KHSAA's website. Not sure if that's capacity or just the bleachers. I would think it's closer to 6000...
