Breathitt Co. pratices in morning and should be a good one,getting ready for the showdown at Russell. Come on out and watch the pratice ,should be a few there to enjoy it.

I really enjoyed it the year we got to play the playoff game on Thanksgiving Day. I believe it was Highlands vs. Bell back in the early 90's. Dudley was so gracious to set this up. It was a wonderful day spent with family, turkey dinner at the Holiday Inn, and great football. Life just doesn't get any better on Thanksgiving.

The week later start has to do with more teams participating than the SIX class system. Sure there would be more (24 to be exact) but not 48.

 

I had gotten used to Eating Thanksgiving, resting for a few hours, and going to the bonfire, then semis on Friday. Oh well.

I am having a HUGE crowd at my home tomorrow for dinner. All I can say, in true Tiger tradition, I and mine will be there for coffee and doughnuts tomorrow at ten no matter what!

I've been a part of a few of them as a player and coach. There is nothing like it. The best was our first final four ever. We ate with our families, went through walk through at our field on got on the bus. We had an 8 hour drive so we left Thanksgiving day and stayed the night. There were people parked on both sides of the road for a stretch of many miles holding up signs etc The police escorted us to the county line and I remember it like it was yesterday. What an amazing experience that one was!

I think 3W was saying under the new 6 class system, but without the 1 week earlier start, we would have 24 teams playing on Thanksgiving week.

Made they Henry County practice this Turkey Day. First time ever. Very cool. Nice group of parents/fans on hand. Breakfast provided by a supporter. Good spirited workout. Look forward to many more!

That was the year they drew for the regional matchups and 1 drew 4.

 

Stick was talking about Lawrence Co traveling from Louisa to Mayfield for that 2A semi-final game. What a long trip.:eek:

My bad. I thought he meant 4 classes with 8 teams, that's how I came up with 32.

Just got back from the Tiger's practice. Very cold, even with coffee and hot chocolate. The Tigers are ready to go!:fight:

My son plays at Greenup County High School and I believe that they practice at 10:00 in the morning. This is the first time in the playoffs in 30 years so we are excited.:dancingpa

 

Mom, next year try to get the coaches to do an evening pre-game on Turkey Day. There is nothing better than watching your playoff bound kids excitedly prepping for a big game, under the lights after gathering around the Thanksgiving meal! It is truly something special. Good luck to your son and your team tomorrow night!

The Breathitt Co.Bobcats had an early morning pratice (9 to 11:30)and lots football fans greeted them, on cool morning after about 2 1/2 hour it was off too eat turkey and give thanks for such a great season, lots Breathitt Co.Bobcat fans will be going to Russell to support The Breathitt Co. Bobcats and their coaching staff. Go Bobcats!!!
