November 18, 200718 yr I don't believe the offense has gone anywhere. I believe that the competition in the SEC has stepped up on the defensive side of the ball. This late in the season, defensive coordinators have seen every play that the Cats could run and how to stop those plays. Now is where the defensive side of the ball has to win games.
November 18, 200718 yr I think that Kentucky has been overrated all year long. I believe that people have looked way to much into this season. Beating Louisville at the time was a big accomplishment, but look at them now. Then Kentucky beat LSU after LSU had to come back from 10 in the swamp in the fourth quarter the week before. None the less Kentucky is still 5th in the SEC east!

None the less Kentucky is still 5th in the SEC east! The LSU game was at LSU, not at the Swamp. And IMO 5th best in the SEC East is still at top 25 or 30 team in the country. Kentucky CAN beat any team in the country on any given Saturday, and we proved that by beating the team that virtually everyone considers the unquestioned #1.

Go Cats!
November 19, 200718 yr I think it may have spent the night in Commonwealth after the LSU game and then packed up and left the next day.

November 19, 200718 yr And landed at the shoe. Really? I didn't know if it went to Columbus or not.
November 19, 200718 yr I like to look at the positive side of the Georgia game. No. 8 on the road used to be a 30 point loss. Instead, at halftime we were ahead. We lost but it was not out of reach as someone said in another thread. UK is better than in the past years. Just not as consistent. I will take this team's year over the last several. (Excluding last year which was fun)
November 19, 200718 yr They have become too one dimensional. They have not run the ball well for a few games now. The MSU game, they lost practically every back in their rotation. Didn't run the ball well in that game. Against Vandy, they didn' run the ball well either. Against UGA they couldn't run the ball. For success in the SEC you have to run the football or you are going to get beat. They haven't. Without a running game they really can't incorporate the play action. I do think they should have given Locke more touches in the last two games. The passing game is struggling some because the OL has become leaky. Woodson has not been as sharp as he was earlier, but some can be attributed to the heat he has been getting. I think they have neglected the middle of the field. Tamme is a huge target and a tough cover. Teams have been playing a lot of cover two...can't see why you can't force safety's to make correct reads on Burton/Johnson long and dragging Tamme or looking for him in the seam. Starting with the Florida game, they have really tailed off in scoring TD once they get to the RedZone....penalties, sacks, playcalling...you name it.

Beating Louisville at the time was a big accomplishment, but look at them now. Then Kentucky beat LSU after LSU had to come back from 10 in the swamp in the fourth quarter the week before. None the less Kentucky is still 5th in the SEC east! With the exception of KY being ranked in the top ten (and at the time even that could be justified) KY has earned every ranking it has gotten. It has beaten 2 top ten teams, played Florida tough, beat Arkansas on the road (which is a good victory with Jones and McFadden even if they aren't ranked), and beat everyone besides Miss St. who they were picked to beat. And regarding Miss St. I think most people see them as a legitimate threat and not the walkover people thought at the beginning of the season. Bottom line - KY is worn down. Not an excuse for losing - just a fact. At this time in the progression of the KY program, KY still will find it difficult to finish strong in the SEC due to lack of depth. Also, teams are figuring out how to play the CATS (especially after watching the South Carolina game) IMO Kentucky has had a great season. There has not been one game this season where Kentucky has not been considered a threat to win. How many KY football seasons can you say that about? The comment where you downplay the LSU victory is laughable. LSU wasn't just an early #1 that faded. They are right back at #1 and probably favorites (at this point) to win the national championship. A Ky win against them (and an overtime win at that) is still VERY impressive! If KY plays in any other conference in the nation, they would not be #5 in their division
November 19, 200718 yr What happened to John Conner the lead blocker for the backs?? Is he hurt or out for some reason?? He was a devastating blocker the first half of the season.
November 19, 200718 yr The O line is not playing as good as they were earlier. Also, Andre keeps missing on about 3 or 4 passes a game.
