I dont think you can say that quite yet... Green was the favorite in last nights game with Metcalfe and Metcalfe came into their house and absolutely blew them away. Mayfield was always the favorite vs. Metcalfe in years past. Both teams that beat Metcalfe in the reg. season this year, Metcalfe dismantled them in the playoffs. Metcalfe is on a mission, and I personally think it'll take the likes of Fort Campbell to stop them. And even then it wont be a cakewalk for FC.

 

FC won't be playing Metcalfe. That will be Bardstown.

After Metcalfe beat Somerset in week 2 I told my fellow Somerset fans not to worry too much about it, that by the end of the season that it would not look like a bad loss. The Hornets have shown that it wasn't. At the time a lot of Mercer County fans we saying that "no wonder Somerset didn't want to play Mercer--they couldn't beat Metcalfe." I think time has shown that Metcalfe is a very solid team and the Jumpers didn't duck anyone by scheduling a trip to Metcalfe. With the beatdown that the Hornets put on Green I think they are a big threat to make it to the finals. I'm picking Metcalfe by a bunch. Trigg has played a softer schedule. Hornets 35, Trigg 14.

With all due respect, the Massey Ratings don't agree and neither do I.

 

Metcalfe's non-district schedule doesn't hold a candle to Trigg's ... it's not even close.

All due respects to the fine folks from Cadiz, but the clock will be running continuously for Metcalfe by the end of the 3rd quarter.

A good coaching staff will find out in film what Metcalfe is planning on doing when they line up on the ball. All of the signs were there last year and Mayfield picked up on it.

 

Trigg may be in Western Kentucky but I am going with Metcalfe in this one. I have made a couple of friends since Metcalfe and Mayfield have met in the playoffs and I just have to pull for them.

As much as I would like to see a Fort Campbell verses Trigg County rematch two weeks from now, I believe Metcalfe County will win this one.

Warf is a good quarterback, but he wasn't very effective against Mayfield last year in the quarterfinals. Trigg can put more speed on the field, but has a history of struggling against good passing attacks.

Finally got a few stats on the Metcalfe/Green game..

 

Warf threw for 209 yards passing, and Deleon rushed for 209 yards passing. Before the Metcalfe/Green playoff game, Green had only allowed 593 yards to be ran on them. So Deleon ran almost half that.

 

I believe that is where Metcalfe will have the advantage. They'll mix it up on you all night, and it's really hard to predict what they're going to do.

If Trigg fans show up it's a really tough place to play.

I'm going to go with Trigg, Warf is okay but no Cory Robinson. Mayfield put the heat on him last year in the playoffs and he did not preform under the heat. Metcalfe's fans last year were on the verge of being rabid, I am going to guess they are again this year. Small rural community that has little else so football is big. The way it should be, I really enjoyed the carnival like atmosphere up there and I have a feeling those folks love to take the show on the road. Trigg shows up and they will win, but if they play like they did at end of season Metcal wins.

Is there a rule saying that I cant make a predicition until I know everything about both teams? No I dont believe so. I dont see Trigg being any better then Green County.. and you saw how that game turned out. Thats why I asked Scribe what kind of team Trigg was.. I am trying to get more information.

 

You are correct, there is no rule. It just seems senseless to predict metcalfe co beating a team you know nothing about.
