Too institutionally different

Sounds tough, I guess they would have to work harder. But make no mistake with hard work and the right attitude they can overcome this. Isn't that what public schools are told?

Well the difference you have there is that the public schools in the divisions with these private schools are much closer in their enrollment to the two titans.

I like classification via enrollment, not according to whether they are public or private.

Although I will say that those schools that would be stuck with Trinity and St.X would do everything they could to build their programs up to comparable levels. I doubt you'd hear a peep out of them, I am a Trinity supporter who feels that it would not be fair to the smaller ones. We're the ones that most people have problems with anyway.

I have no problem with the schools, its the guidelines they use for enrollment.

Can you honestly tell me that they are the same for public and private.

Two answers;

1- all use the same.

2- we split

It is that simple.

We use the same rules according to the KHSAA. Open Enrollment and districts are dealt with at the local level. That has to do with individual school systems.

You can't impose restrictions on yourself and then complain that others have an unfair advantage.

Yes we can.

Thats why we want to split from Private schools.

Am I missing something. I can't get financial aid to send my child to Corbin.

KHSAA doen't set guidelines for enrollment.

You live in the district? It's free, sounds like a full ride to me.

If the districts hade reciprocal agreements with each other in which the money follows the student instead of staying with the district it wouldn't matter. Which frankly makes more sense to me anyway as no child is the property of any school.

Of course you CAN, but that doesn't make it any more justified. Jefferson County Schools have open enrollment, I suppose that we ought to not allow that either then eh? They don't follow the same enrollment procedures other counties, let's ship them off with the privates.

The problem here isn't so much public/private as it is rural/urban. Something that many of us (the more rational ones anyway, there are some real kooky folks on both sides) on both sides came to agree upon long ago in this forum.

LBBC has illustrated quite effectively that in his county open enrollment would do nothing to level the playing field like it more or less has in Louisville, on account of the fact that there aren't enough schools for it to matter.

I don't live in the district or even the county. And you haven't given me an answer. There is a difference, so help me to solve my problem.

Answer;

Go to a private school.

Urban/rural doesn't matter to me. I'll drive. I don't care what it takes.

I'm going to use another old analogy.

Some school systems have chosen to drug test their student athletes. Without getting into the merits of drug testing, would it be kosher for those schools that do limit themselves by drug testing demand that schools that don't drug test be separated from them?

Apples and oranges.

I need an answer to my problem that doesn't read, go to a private school.

It is hard for me to answer a question when no question is specifically asked.

Public schools can accept out of district AND out of county students. It has happened in Jefferson County before.

Apples and oranges.

How is it apples and oranges?

States all over the nation have recognized that there is a difference. Please don't insult us and say that there is not.

I have enjoyed our conversation.

I have to go now.

Some states have, some states have not.

I await your return when you can address some of the other things I have mentioned.

Move to an open enrollment district.
