Is this a situation of taking Welch out of the game and you shut down their passing attack?

 

Yes and No in my opinion.

 

After watching JC play Belfry I honestly felt the most impressive Golden Eagle was Ian Welch. The kid is a phenomenal football player on both sides of the football, the reason why JC goes to him so much is simple:

 

1. Typically teams are forced to stack the box to stop the JC running game, thus allowing Welch to be matched up in single coverage. No matter how good the CB on the other side of the ball is, when you are left on an island and the Q has enough time to drop back and wait on the receiver to get open, bad things will eventually happen.

 

2. Welch runs his routes beautifully, but above all else he is one of the better HS receivers I have seen in recent time at adjusting o the football while it is in the air. Once again, very tough to cover when the defender is in straight man coverage.

 

3. If you had a receiver that was open all the time who rarely drops a pass, don't you think you would send the majority of your passes his way too? LOL

 

With that being said, given the proper scheme, coupled with JC's pension for going "All-or-nothing" on their playaction (meaning nearly every pass is 20+ yards down the field) it si entirely possible to limit the JC passing game's effectiveness. But, JC also has no problem hitting their tight ends or leaking Grim out of the backfield. Grim has excellent pass catching skills.

 

But, all of this is a moot point if LC can't stop the Eagle ground game first.

Coming from Paintsville this is how I would go. I was in Pikeville this past Saturday and this is how I came back to Richmond. The directions from Richmond to Lancaster and Stanfor is how I go to get to Lincoln County High School. I think it would be better than going through Lexinton.

 

Take the Bert T. Combs To I-64.Go West

Take I-64 to Exit 94 Van Meter RD Turn left on to Van Meter Rd/Winchester Bypass.

 

Follow the By-Pass until it ends at Boonesboro Rd/Hwy 627 make a right.

Stay on Boonesboro Rd/Hwy 627 to you get to I-75. Make a left and go South towards Richmond.

 

Take I-75 South to the second Richmond exit 87. Turn Left onto the EKU By-Pass.

 

Take the EKU By-Pass to Lancaster RD KY-52. You will make a right. At this intersection you will see a baseball field on the left and a shopping center on the right.

 

Stay on Ky-52 through Paint Lick. After you get through Paint Lick the road is a new one. You will have to go 24 miles to you get to Lancaster.

 

You will come to US-27 KY-52 Intersection. Make a left at the light.

 

Follow US-27 south for about 10-15 miles and Lincoln County High School will be on the left.

This game interest me as Lincoln has already beat last years KHSAA 2006 2A champion, I became a fan of theirs at that point .... But JC is from NE Ky , so hoping both teams play their best and a real good game for all involved ...

Earlier this year, during the regular season ,a player on JC's team had an eligibility concern brought forth from the KHSAA. I am sure this has been long resolved. I have lost track of the progress of this concern. Has it been addressed and put to rest? What were the findings? What is the player's name and playing position? I am not trying to stir the pot. But curious toknow if the athlete is allowed to play.
