Good Luck to Corbin in this game, I honestly have felt for the better part of the year that 2A was a two team race (I was never sold on Danville and/or Bardstown), I also felt that on paper NewCath appears to clearly be the better team, but if Corbin can play solid football and maintain their offensive balance, they can pull the mild upset.

 

The key to this game for Corbin will definately be their down lineman on defense. Not only will they be responsible for creating pressure against the NCC QB, but they will have to collapse the gaps on the NCC running game so that the HB doesn't have momentum as he hits the second level. Corbin's biggest strength on defense is their LB's.

The last time a 2A team from the Southern (Well... South-east) part of the state went to NKY in the playoffs was in 2003 when Belfry beat Lloyd on a cold, cold, snowy night en route to their state title.

I hate to break it to you, but the NORTHERN KENTUCKY schools are not the only ones with a very rich tradition. NCC is not the only school in kentucky playing good football right now at this point in the season. But hey Corbin is a push over, right??? No contest for the Breds? What is Corbin's experience on turf fields in the last couple of years? How many games? Results?

That Belfry team was a obviously a very good one as noted by the state title and actually I was surprised they did not win by more against Lloyd because I thought they were a much better team. That Lloyd team was not a good team NKY-wise as they lost to Dixie by 31, to NCC by 29, and to Beechwood by 27 that year.

With the weatcher conditions and stuff and the fact of it being such a big game it was bound not to be a blowout ya know.

As far as these teams go, I have a lot and I mean a lot of respect for both teams after each of them has came to Belfry for the Pike County Bowl past 2 seaons. Both of them were beaten by the Pirates but both teams showed a lot of talent and most of all class. I would have no problem seein my Pirates play teams like you guys every year.

Good points as the weather dicated a more cautious approach in that Belfry/Lloyd match-up. I would conceed that led to less scoring than if played in normal conditions. And I agree that this one is a close one either way too. Would like to see more long distance games among the better teams in all classes at the beginning of the year since there are fewer district games.
