That's the great part of Thanksgiving. Enjoy family.

Thanksgiving Traditions ala Motherhood

Begins the Friday before (in addition to part time job)

Friday- Get caught up on laundry.

Saturday- Clean the house. Pretend not to notice the eye rolling when I give the kids their chores:rolleyes:

Sunday- Have kids and husband move furniture while I iron tablecloths and napkins. Check silver to see what needs to be polished. Clean out the refrigerator to make room for the rest of the week. Pull out recipes and make grocery list

Monday- Go to the grocery with a cabillion other harried women. Try to love mankind while standing in line for 30 minutes to pay. Take groceries home and put them away.

Throw in another load of laundry.

Tuesday- Go back to grocery to forget the one or two item forgotton yesterday. Circle the parking lot of grocery store definately hating all of mankind. Briefly consider faking a limp in order to take the only available parking space which happens to be handicapped. Begin some of the cooking.

Wednesday- Full day of cooking and baking. When done, clean kitchen, mop the floor and run dishwasher.

Thursday- Get up early to get turkey in oven. Set out plates, utensils and serving dishes. Pick up house and check bathrooms to make sure they are clean with fresh towels. Time all food items so dinner is ready precisely in time for halftime of the football game. Serve dessert and coffee

Pretend not to notice eye roll of children when asked to clean up after supper:rolleyes:

Oddly enough, loving every minute of it.

I dont really have much of traditions per se. Pretty much my whole family lives way off except my dad and step mom and my dad works on the river so he's pretty much gone on all major holidays and my step mom's religion doesnt really celebrate it, so I usually go with whoever I'm, however this year, like last, I'll be alone through the holidays...

As I have done every Thanksgiving since I was 10 (with the exception of one year when I could not get Leave), I'll start the day quail hunting with my family down the farm. Afterwards, this year we'll then go to my parents' farm (we've always done it at our farm, but due to a kitchen remodeling project down there that Henry begged me to do over Thanksgiving, its at my parents farm this year). I'll shoot some clays in the afternoon, enjoy some sherry or port with a cigar, have a Thanksgiving lunch and then hopefully will need to head into town to attend pregame football practice at Highlands. End the evening with a Woodford and then take a nice 6 hour nap. Hunt some more Friday morning and then get ready, again hopefully, take the afternoon off to get ready for the game Friday night. Just hope CovCath and my clients don't mess up what could be a very nice and relaxing two days.

We always go to Mass on the Wedsenday night before Thanksgiving . Then on Thursday we go to my sister's house in Southgate for the Thanksgiving Meal . Everyone brings a new side dish that hasn't been tried before so the meal is very eclectic .

I go to my girlfriends family thanksgiving around noon, then around 4 or 5 I head off to my moms family's thanksgiving.
