What are some of you guys traditions? Usually I have 2 Thanksgiving's. I go to my Dad's parents then I go to my Mom's Parents. I eat and eat. Then I usually watch football and then get some :sleep:.

We switch off between my mother-in-laws and my aunt's house every year. If we're having Thanksgiving at one, we usually try to make an appearance at the other and eat something.

 

This year will be different. We're going to North Carolina to have Thanksgiving with two of my boys.

When our children were at the age they could enjoy a movie at the cinema, we began a tradition of the family movie release on Thanksgiving evening at the local cinema.

 

There are many families that do this. We actually debate for the 2-3 weeks leading up to it, which movie we are going to see.

We will be in Cary (Raleigh/triangle area).

We usually go to my dad's sister's place in Madison, Ind. "Fellowship" (cocktails) starts at 11 a.m., dinner at 1, and the card game kicks up at around 2:30. Those not strong enough to withstand the effects of large doses of Vitamin Z usually retreat to the living room to watch bad movies.

A group of friends from high school get together the day after Thanksgiving and play in the annual "Turkey Bowl." Its alot of fun, minus the soreness the next day!

 

 

As far as family goes, my parents normally have people over and we watch the football games, and its became a tradition to watch "Trains,Planes and Automobiles", as well.

Thank you for this thread, I teach and one of the things that I really stress is Traditions, and how it ties us all together.

Somehow, this sentence made me laugh. :lol:

This year we will be watching Bardstown practice early Thanksgiving morning (although that has not yet become an annual tradition). Then I always spend a couple hours at the church PTO delivering turkey suppers for shut-ins. For the past couple of years the highlight has been the annual Thanksgiving Day hike with my boys where we pick out a really good stick and go down to the river and throw rocks in the water. I never paid much attention to the football, but its around the early afternoon I start sampling wines. The clan eats about 5, and we usually have some new board game for everybody (or Yahtzee as a fallback) after supper. I play games, drink port and eat walnuts and Stilton in the evening, and I'm usually passed out by 10 p.m.

I cook and cook and then clean it all up and go to work on Friday! Actually, I'm very blessed and have a great family.
