Colts: Caught cheating?

Featured Replies

Did the Colts get caught cheating yesterday in their game with (of all people) the Patriots?

Here is the footage from the NFL Network. It occurs on the first play of the fourth quarter around the 2:20 mark. Listen to the crowd noise CD skip.

Here is the rule:

The home club does not have the prerogative to decide if such sound hampers signal calling. While spontaneous crowd noises may be beyond immediate control, noise of any kind (music, horns, gongs, drums, etc.) that is under club control must cease when the play clock (40 or 25 second) is running and the visiting team is in possession of the ball. Flagrant attempts by cheerleaders, mascots or the public-address system to encourage crowd noise for the purpose of disrupting the visiting team's offense while the play clock is running is prohibited. The use of noise meters or such messages as "Noise!," "Let's hear it!," "Raise the Roof," "Let's go Crazy," "Pump it up," "12th Man" are prohibited at any time during the game. These examples are not limited to the foregoing, but also would include similar messages that encourage crowds to make random noise in order to disrupt the opposition. The prohibitions specified in this section also apply during kicking plays.

 Isn't there a huge sign up in Seattle with this?

Scumbags. Can we start calling them Dungi-cheat and Manning-cheat?

No proof that the Colts did anything but sure seems like it.

You've heard what it sounds like when a CD skips. How is what we hear on that video not proof?

There have been more teams than the Pat's to say that this "crowd noise" was being fed into the speaker system. I wouldn't think that Dungy would have anything to do with it. The owners maybe, but not Dungy.

And, now we know why there was a chilly reception at midfield between the two coaches.

I like Dungheap better.

Yes, I believe you are correct.

Are we really about to roll with 'sound evidence' from YouTube?

Very good point.

I'm at school, so I didn't click the link... I was going by what was posted.

Oh, now I see. ;)

No, that's simply because Belichick is a jerk.

I didn't realize the accusation was funneling noise, I thought it was instructing the crowd to make noise. Now that I know that, it seems obvious...
