I'm going with the Colts...

Hard to go against the Pats.

Colts get this one as they are the defending Super Bowl champ and are getting no respect and no play from the national media like the Patriots. Many have already written the Patriots name on the Super Bowl trophy.

 

That will stick with the Colts and they get this game. 41-38.

 

Patriots get the one in the playoffs and do win the Super Bowl.

I went with Tom Brady and the Pats. I mean did you see Brady in the post game press conference yesterday? If I had a mere fraction of his mojo and moxy I would literally need some sort OFF! brand product to spray the ladies and fan boys away.

I think the Pats roll. After this season I can really see us ranking them among the best teams ever. They have no holes on the team they do everything great.

I'm with GT. I think the Colts are clearly the second best team in the NFL, but the gap between 1 and 2 is looking pretty wide.

 

A few points...

 

1. I do think the Colts will be extra motivated because they're going to be sick of hearing about how good New England is...as Super Bowl champs they're going to feel disrespected.

 

2. However, any advantage they might gain from that will be offset by the fact that New England is going to be motivated to avenge a tough loss in last year's AFC Championship game. Plus, this is the Patriots. Nobody is better in big games than this bunch.

 

3. That leaves us with a simple analysis of what we have...and I'll preface it by saying that New England had an 18-point lead in Indy last year and could have easily won that game, and probably should have. This group of Patriots is a far superior team than the one that nearly beat Indy last year...yes, Indy is better also, but not that much better.

 

Coaching - Advantage Patriots

QB - I'll say toss-up, but I'd take Brady if I were picking a team

RB - Advantage Colts; Addai is definitely the best, but I think the Pats have better depth

WR/TE - Advantage Patriots; Wayne, Harrison and Clark are great...but not as good as Moss, Stallworth, Welker, and Watson, IMO

OL - Advantage Patriots

 

DL - Advantage Patriots; I'd have given them the nod before Seymour returned

LB - Advantage Patriots; probably the biggest gap between the two teams

DB - Advantage Patriots; sorry Bob Sanders, there is only one of you

 

Kicking/ST - Slight Edge Colts; this is close IMO, but I'll give Indy a slight nod because Vinatieri is as clutch as they come...too bad this game won't come down to a kick

 

 

Here's what I think...

 

New England hasn't had an offense remotely close to this when facing Indy...I expect it might give them the freedom to throw a few new wrinkles at Manning because they know they have the offense to erase any defensive mistakes...in the past they didn't. I really expect the Patriots to impose their will on both sides of the ball...they'll be aggressive on both offense and defense and I expect them to frustrate the Colts. It might stay close for a while, or it might not, but in the end, I think New England will win by at least 2 TD's and possibly more.
