Anyone from Raceland who says that the Russell game was not EMOTIONALLY the biggest game of their season is lying. If they were told before the season that they could only win one game this year and they had their pick it would have been Russell and there is NO denying that. There are a lot of reasons for that and most are compliments to where Russell's football program is. Beating Russell this season would have given their program more credibility than any other win on their schedule could have. Some others' reasons :ylsuper::thumb::cry: are not complimentary at all no matter how much they try to say otherwise.

 

Now, at the same time, Russell did want to win this game as well. I know several people who circled this game on their calendars as soon as it was scheduled but I don't get the sense that it meant nearly as much to them from what I read and hear. I actually was able to attend the game with my buddy from Russell and after the game Russell seemed pretty subdued and business-like as if they expected to win. I was told the firetrucks would have been out in full force had Raceland won. I don't think there was a parade in Russell after that game.

 

Let me say this though. The atmosphere at that game was unbelievable. It was like a playoff game and party all mixed up into one. You don't really see that much around Lexington. I really enjoyed that.

As for me I am glad that you can speak for myself and others, very good mind reading skills . As I said, yes the game was important but to me the district games are more important in that they are for the playoff seedings and the playoffs are what it is all about at Raceland.

 

I will stand by what I said in my earlier post.....Yes, the Russell game was important, no one said that it wasn't. Yes, I wanted to win it but I doubt very seriously if Raceand will be canceling their football program anytme soon over it .

 

If your post is what you think that is fine but please do not try to speak for others or try to play "mind reader" or something and call others "liars" if that is what you meant to do, it may not have been but it did sound like it.

 

I don't think that you have any idea what all others were thinking unless you talked to every fan out there and I am pretty sure that didn't happen .

Did you interview all of their fans (LOL)? If you think it was just Raceland fans who hyped this game then you must have blinders on.

 

I guarantee Russell was more business-like because they expect to win; good teams expect that every game. As I said in an earlier post, Raceland probably had more to gain by playing than Russell did, but that doesn't mean they were excited about playing. The bottom line is this:

 

1. Last time I checked, no Raceland fans, players, or coaches were seen jumping off the pressbox after the game.

 

2. Both teams played an exciting game & the atmosphere was awesome.

3. Both teams are still in the playoffs, & Raceland wanted to win, but hasn't gone into a tailspin because they didn't. They're focused on West Carter, just as Russell is resting up & focusing on the playoffs.

In high school Kevin Brown was like tackling a logtruck. He likes to run it right at you. He likes to mash you at the line of scrimmage. Their O line is a definite strength. Turnovers have killed them. So, I'll say run!,,,,,,over preferably!

It's pretty balanced IMO.

I'd say 60% run and 40% pass.

Just depends whats working for them, but ain't that usually how it is??

I just talked to a person that is very close to the Raceland team and was told that they are ready to go. As a poster said earlier, they had better come out ready to play. West Carter is a capable football team and are very well coached. IMO it goes back to the old saying but it always applies: "Fear No One but Respect All". I hope that both teams remain injury free and that Raceland comes out focused and ready to play, if they are focused they will be alright - if not they wil take their 4th loss.

I am sure that the coaches will have them ready.

Ideally they want balance, but it is usually 60-40 to the run, if they can run down your throat it will become more of a 90-10 ratio, which makes since i guess. Also added some run-and-shoot concepts for the passing game, which in my opinion is what they do the best. Short, precise passess, and moving it down the field.

As for Kevin, he is a great guy and is a very respected member of the Olive Hill Community.

I agree on all points made, especially about Coach Brown being a Class Act.

Good defense takes care of this one for the Rams. The offense will take care of itself.

Game Day. I am looking forward to the trip to Olive Hill and hope to see a good game between Raceland and West Carter. I also hope that Raceland shows some improvement on defense, heading into the playoffs. I have said it several times in this thread, and I think it is worthy of repeating: Raceland had better stop making the mental mistakes and quit arm tackling. These are the two things that are holding them back and will be their demise if they do fix them. I know the coaching staff is very good and has repeated this over and over, but now it is the players who have to fix these two things. I hope they realize it and are making a conscious effort to do so.
