Raceland 40 West 6

Mental Mistakes are going to be Raceland's downfall. Raceland has to stop the false starts. False starts are nothing more then a mental mistake. The other thing that is killing me while watching Raceland play is "Arm Tackling". If a player can't move his feet and make a solid tackle, then he doesn't need to be playing defense. No matter who you are sitting by, or standing by, all the fans are talking about the arm tackling. It is just lazy football.

 

This is week 10 of the season, and players should not be committing these silly mental mistakes and arm tackling. If these mistakes are not fixed by the players, then they will make a very short playoff appearance.

 

I agree with you 110%. Something that has killed me the past couple of seasons is the play of our DB's. They seem to wait for the ball to come down and don't attack. There were several times against Russell that an aggressive DB could have broken up a pass play or even intercepted the ball, of course it may be too loate in the season to correct this.

 

The mental mistakes have to be at a minimum against WC and more importanly against Fairview in the 1st round of the playoffs. The arm tackling has to go, and better special teams play, this isn't the NFL or the NCAA, "everyone" needs to be prepared to make the tackle.

As long as the Rams stay focused & avoid the penalities & mental mistakes that plagued them in the Russell game I see victory #7 & momentum for Fairview in Round #1.

Mental mistakes will make a good team look very average very fast.

Penalties and mental mistakes/missed assignments really cost us in the Russell game.

Was going to take a mistake free game by the Rams for a win.

With 4 t.o's and all you are not going to beat anyone, let alone a good football team like Russell.

 

Enough about last week though.

Lets go and get a "W" at West Carter this Friday and bulid some momentum heading into the playoff and the Fairview game.

Several times it looked like Raceland fans were in the process of loving themselves, giving themselves hugs. Bret Denton's Dad looked like he had really come to love himself thereby allowing him to really love others several times throughout the game. But then I realized they were not hugging themselves but rather telling the players to wrap up on tackles. So much for self-actualization.

 

I agree, way too many arm tackles epsecially in the second half. Sometimes that can be a symptom of being tired. Raceland definitely was worn down in the second half and it showed. They've got get back to fundamentals and conditioning this week. And they certainly have the Coaching staff that will make the adjustments they need to make.

Raceland- Several points

West- Not as many points as Raceland

Raceland shoud be favored in the game, and SHOULD probably win. I say West probably scores on Raceland's staring offense. They usually score early, including when they played Mason and Russell. It's the turnover bug that seems to get them. In their win vs East they didn't turn the ball over except maybe once, possibly twice, but the game was already over. In the Fairview game I think I read that they had 4 or 5 to's. There defense is vulnerable, c'mon, looking in the paper, it said their defensive ends lead the team in tackles. Yikes...

Carroll is a good back from what i've seen, he will need about 20 carries and some good blocking to keep West in games the rest of the way. Good luck to both teams as they prepare for the playoffs.

I was referring to someone saying all that West Carter's points would come against Racelands JV. West usually scores early on everyone, it's the 2, 3, and 4 quarters when they need to pick up the offensive pace. Meant to say DEFENSE...sorry, tried to type too quick. Jeeze give me a break, I'm new on here.

It was enough 3 days ago.

Of the few games I have watched this year, West does have a good offense. Their D is not always so solid. West will score 3-4 almost every game. Besides the East game, West plays better against passing teams.

Raceland better not take this game lightly. Big game last week and a big game next week. Raceland better not get the mindset that this is not a bye week or a god awful West Carter team. If Raceland comes out flat like they did against East Carter this will be a long night in Olive Hill.

Faraway I have to disagree. I think West Carter's pass defense is the weakest spot on the team. I take that from the Mason game, since their pretty much the only passing team they have played, West could stop the run decently, but a quick pass was almost always a huge gain, if not a touchdown. The only thing that is good about their pass defense so far is that they can get some pressure on the QB. The best thing about the 3-3-5 is that you can disguise blitzes, and they do that well, IMO.
