RoadRunner Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 • State football champs from 25 years ago -- Christian County (4A), Highlands (3A), Corbin (2A), Paris (1A) -- will be recognized at this year's finals in Louisville on Dec. 7-8. Players, coaches and cheerleaders from each team will get one complimentary general admission ticket and one guest ticket. Contact your respective school, or Brent Miller at the KHSAA at (859) 299-5472, or bmiller@khsaa.org. I know they did this last year as well. However no one told last years Highlands team about it. I am sure SOME OF OUR MEMBERS WILL BE THERE BUT I CAN'T SAY WHO OR IT WOULD BE A RULE #5 VIOLATION. Hopefully the rest of the Highlands faithful will have good reason to be there. Birdsfan, help spread the word.
theguru Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 That is very nice of the KHSAA to honor past champions and give them two free tickets.

Dont worry Guru you only have to wait a couple more years to get yours. 1984 right? so lets do the math, 25 yrs will be 2009...you probably graduated at 18.....uh... that makes you......nevermind. LOL
theguru Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I am 39 and yes I have to wait two more years. However, the KHSAA already lets me in for free so they have been taking care of me for a long time.

Question, were you guys the only Beechwood state champ until Yeagle started the dynasty in the 90's?
theguru Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Butch Cope, Marilyn Mitchell, and Julian Tackett all take good care of me for all things KHSAA. Yes, 1984 Beechwood was the first title. Beechwood was runner up in 74 to Murray. Murray won 14 to 0.

gchs_uk9 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Wonder when they will announce them? In the past the announced the 1A champ during the 1A game, etc. Will it be the same this year? Perhaps announce the teams during the game/class that school currently plays in.
Birdsfan Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Birdsfan, help spread the word.Started making a list and checking it twice right after I got your PM earlier. :thumb:

Which game will the players get tickets to?
Watusi Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 The games are in 2 days aren't they? 3 on Fri and 3 on Sat.

Qryche11 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 The games are in 2 days aren't they? 3 on Fri and 3 on Sat. Perfect opportunity to spend a weekend in beautiful Louisville and see some excellent football. 4th street live is a very cool place as well if you are really bored on Friday night.
