Don't know about West, but I think Lewis and Elliott and now Morgan have won a total of around 10 in the last 30 years, put together.

The past has nothing to do with the 62nd being the best district in the region the present year.

Morgan won 4 District Titles in about a 5 year stretch...not too long ago.

Everybody calm down, I know Elliott has the best team and I know Morgan Co. has won District Championships. The title of the thread is 62 nd District and Morgan has only been in it a few years, since realignment, I was simply going against what CatsCatsCats said about the 62nd being the most competitive year in and year out. Just a history lesson, I know that doesn't matter this year. So please relax, its a long season that hasn't even started yet.

I think the 62nd will be a very good District THIS YEAR.

 

Elliott is the favorite right now with East behind them.

 

Morgan and West will be a toss up and should be some good games to watch.

When was this ten year streak of district championships????? Must have been in the 70's or 80's or just in your head. I know it wasn't the 90's West Carter had atleast a few of them I would think. I know they had one if 99 with Roger Paynter & Casey Lowe's team, and I would think that Jeremy Webbs teams atleast won two or three of them. As for this decade, I know that Elliott has won two, and Lewis won atleast 1 while they were in this district. East has the most 62nd district championship, but for the last 15 years or so it has been competetive and i doubt if anyone has a streak longer than 2 or 3 years. Big Slick are you from a 62nd district school? If not try to make it to the tournament this year. Usually all three games in the tournament are tight, and all 4 teams usually have a shot at the title. with the exception of the Elliott blowout of West last year.

 

Just how good is the 64th tournament anyways? Has Ashland ever been beaten in the first round??? If there a given every year, then their tournament can't even compare to the 62nd, where believe it or not even Elliott County could lose in the 1st round if their not careful. Just for the record I would be willing to bet a lot of money that Elliott will get to the region, I was just stating a fact. You may be right but we will see, but ask Morgan County any region heavyweight that thinks the 62nd district tourney is easy, should come and play in it and see what watching the regional tournament every once and a while feels like. I'm not saying every team in the district would beat any other team in the region this year or any year, all i'm saying is that at tournament time, for what ever reason, it is the toughest district and the most wide open.

Could you have meant to say West instead of East, and maybe you meant to say Hop Brown instead of Charlie Baker, because the only team to win nearly that many district titles in a row in the 62nd recently was the Lady Comets from the mid to late 90's to the early part of this decade.

Year in year out it is the most COMPETETIVE. No we haven't had the most elite teams in the regions history like some of the Ashland teams, or the Marquis Dawson, OJ Mayo Rose Hill teams, but usally any 4 of the teams in the district has a chance to wear the crown in our tournament.

FWIW, I don't see how anyone can say Elliott isn't the heavy favorite. I don't know about Morgan other than Nets said they'll be pretty good, so that's good enough for me. I'd guess the other 3 is a toss-up around district time, of course barring any injuries.

Didn't mean to rattle your chain, didn't know how long you were talking about, I will try to find out for sure, but I believe East Carter did win the distict from mid 80's until mid 90's. For the record, I believe it will be more competitive this year than most posters on here.

Chains not rattled, but hey. Elliott is the heavy favorite in the region and not just the district. Like I said previously, the other 3 teams in the district will battle out to not be the 4 seed, who in their right minds would want to play Elliott at Elliott in the first round of districts? Spindoc, I will gladly own up if I'm wrong. Thats my prediction for the season, and I will stand by it. As for the mid 80-through mid 90's it may be possible, but does that even count to what we are talking about. For example, Navy and Army use to be two of the top football teams in the country in college football, but that doesn't get them anywhere now. For years, East dominated the district I do know that, and I believe they may have around half of the championships, since they became a school, but, for the last decade and a half, this has been a very competitive district.
