When was this ten year streak of district championships????? Must have been in the 70's or 80's or just in your head. I know it wasn't the 90's West Carter had atleast a few of them I would think. I know they had one if 99 with Roger Paynter & Casey Lowe's team, and I would think that Jeremy Webbs teams atleast won two or three of them. As for this decade, I know that Elliott has won two, and Lewis won atleast 1 while they were in this district. East has the most 62nd district championship, but for the last 15 years or so it has been competetive and i doubt if anyone has a streak longer than 2 or 3 years. Big Slick are you from a 62nd district school? If not try to make it to the tournament this year. Usually all three games in the tournament are tight, and all 4 teams usually have a shot at the title. with the exception of the Elliott blowout of West last year.

 

Just how good is the 64th tournament anyways? Has Ashland ever been beaten in the first round??? If there a given every year, then their tournament can't even compare to the 62nd, where believe it or not even Elliott County could lose in the 1st round if their not careful. Just for the record I would be willing to bet a lot of money that Elliott will get to the region, I was just stating a fact. You may be right but we will see, but ask Morgan County any region heavyweight that thinks the 62nd district tourney is easy, should come and play in it and see what watching the regional tournament every once and a while feels like. I'm not saying every team in the district would beat any other team in the region this year or any year, all i'm saying is that at tournament time, for what ever reason, it is the toughest district and the most wide open.

 

I will say this, most years East does make it to the champioship game, but I've went to the 62 district tournament for atleast the last 15 years so I think I would remember any team pulling of 3 or more championships in a row. Could you have meant to say West instead of East, and maybe you meant to say Hop Brown instead of Charlie Baker, because the only team to win nearly that many district titles in a row in the 62nd recently was the Lady Comets from the mid to late 90's to the early part of this decade.

 

As for the history lesson, who cares what happend in the 60's, 70's, 80', or 90's, what about recently??? Some fans in this region live too much on whats written in the record books, and not the product on the floor. We'll see when the 16th region champion is from the 62nd, and I guarantee our runner up with atleast make the final four of the region, if not the championship, just like last year. Write it down.

 

Year in year out it is the most COMPETETIVE. No we haven't had the most elite teams in the regions history like some of the Ashland teams, or the Marquis Dawson, OJ Mayo Rose Hill teams, but usally any 4 of the teams in the district has a chance to wear the crown in our tournament.

 

Someone please post a 20 year history for the 62nd district tournament. I will admit that I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt EC put up even 5 district championships in a row in the last couple of years.
