This is probably going to fall into the "master of the obvious" category, but as long as Mike Brown is involved with this franchise (which will be until he's called to the great beyond) they will always be underestaffed and mediocre at best. Just enough success to keep the seats filled, skyboxes sold, and the NFL off his behind!!

 

How many family members make up his "staff", and their qualifications (other than blood type) are what........?? Plus he's got Lippencott as chief of scouting still I believe, and he couldn't get a high school head job when PB hired him. One of the laughing stocks of the league, until it comes to their balance sheet!!!!

While what Johnson has done in his past is not admirable, Travis Henry is in a whole other world.

Some how all the troubles have been masked by the media as being Chad's fault. Pretty amazing if you ask me.

 

I do not think it is Chad's fault the Bengals are not very good. With that said, you cannot go out of your way to be viewed as a team spokesman and leader and not expect to take some of the blame, that comes with the territory. The fact Chad, et al. are having a hard time accepting that shows the Bengals real problem, imo.. immaturity.

Some people can't read a newspaper if they think the media masked all of the Bengals problems...

So let me get this right the Bengals have -

 

Arrest - Deltha O'Neal(DWI), Reggie McNeal(Resisting arrest and drug possession), Odell Thurman(Drunken driving), Eric Steinbach(Boating under the influence), Matthias Askew(Disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, failure to comply with a police officer's order, obstructing justice Acquitted Aug. 24.), Frostee Rucker(Vandalism, spousal battery), Chris Henry(DUI), A.J. Nicholson(Burglary, grand theft, vandalism), Chris Henry(Providing alcohol to three underage females), and Chris Henry(Possession of a concealed firearm, improper exhibition of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm).

 

 

A defense that is 29th overall in the league, giving up 384.7 ypg and 31.2 ppg.

 

A head coach who will not discipline anyone unless the NFL threatens him, and is supposed to be a defensive guru.

 

A owner who runs an NFL team with the organizational staff that is smaller than almost EVERY SINGLE D-1 football team.

 

 

A QB who is tied for 2nd in the NFL for MOST INT's.

 

 

BUT some of you guys and Marvin think that Chad Johnson is the problem?????

Last year, people were on here ripping Bengals/Lewis for the character issues and saying these individuals would be causing issues for the Bengals.

 

At the beginning of this year, someone posted a thread about Lewis and being on a hot seat.

 

I started a thread about what happened to the defensive guru label.

 

Did you just skip over all those threads and get to the point you wanted to make?

 

Nowhere has anyone, that I remember, glossed over all of those other things and laid the blame squarely at the feet of Chad.

 

He is part of the problem, just as all of those other things that we have been posting about for the last two seasons, are part of the problem.

Wow, this is good stuff. I love the noise when the wheels come off. You see, however, with a win this weekend, all will be back on track so to speak in Bengal nation, one game back perhaps with alot of football to go. Man, I bet Adam Dunn is loving this! This might be the most important game of Lewis tenure. They beat the Steelers and they are right back into the race. They don't and they have lost another wheel on the bus.

While Chad's a tremendous receiver and top 3-4 in the league IMO, he is as selfish as it gets. That does not help a team, I don't care what anyone says.

 

With that said, he doesn't have much to do with the defensive problems, if anything...

I will admit there are the fringe out there, but the Bengal fans in general and the majority of them as he alluded to in his first post, no.

 

To me, it seems that Marvin does not have control of this team. Either a) because the players' attitudes are to the point that they are uncontrollable and/or too selfish; b) he is a poor coach that cannot manage it.

 

I find B to be not fair to him as he didn't seem to have these problems elsewhere. Although, in Baltimore, it seemed that he had Ray Lewis that would solve any attitude problems on that team, while the Bengals have their star players being part of the attitude problems. Either they are the laid back variety or the mouthy selfish variety.

 

Although Marvin's policy of the team not going to the press and discussing team problems contributes to calling players out.

 

Funny how Levi gets ripped by his coach for talking to the press and Chad seems to have free reign in doing it. Sure that makes the other players happy.
