October 24, 200718 yr Players who Did not do well I'll avoid the ones already mentioned. Steve Spurrier. It always amazes me how he rips his QB's for not being perfect and he couldn't do much on the NFL level. He was a journeyman on some sorry teams. Johnny Rodgers was a disappointment. He was phenomenal in college (Reggie Bush before there was a Reggie Bush). It never translated to the NFL. Charles White was a bust. He was a Heisman winner because he was TB at USC on some great teams and he had Anthony Munoz in front of him. Mike Rozier was never as great at the NFL level as he was in college. Another possible reminder that sometimes the program is bigger than the player who succeds in the program. Andre Ware might have been the absolute biggest bust of them all. Some who went on to succeed to some level in the NFL Earl Campbell. He was a stud for about the first 6 or 7 years and then he had just been rode too hard by Bum Phillips. George Rogers had a good but not great career for the Saints. Billy Sims was really good for Detroit until he blew his knee out. He did not have all the moves of Barry Sanders but he was a great blend of power and speed. Desmond Howard did not develop into what was projected but he was a good player who hung around a while and set some Super Bowl records when he got the chance for the Packers.
October 24, 200718 yr How many are from the University of Alabama? None, "we win as a team, not just one player". Quote from some coach we had. If I was a player and wanted to play in the Pros, I'd hate to win it. So far this year its really kinda of weak, or maybe just like the season has gone and very equal.

I thought Forrest Gump won the Heisman while at Alabama?
October 24, 200718 yr Eric Crouch, certainly is one. I remember George Rogers of South Carolina, being very good but I don't recall much of him in the NFL.
October 24, 200718 yr Few remarks on some of our Heisman friends!:lol: 1986 Vinny Testaverde :confused: I don't think I would knock Testaverde. Ol' Vinny has thrown for over 45,000 yards and 271's touchdowns in his NFL career. And just last Sunday became the oldest starting Quarterback in NFL to history to win a game, throw a touchdown pass in 21 consectutive seasons (unbelievable), and set the NFL record for TD passes to 71 different receivers! Vinny has had the bad luck for playing for some absolutely horrendous teams over the years from the Bucs, Browns, and his years with the Jets. He never really was given any A-List guys to work with on offense. The closest he got to working with another superstar on offense was Curtis Martin in New York and by the itme Martin got there Pennginton was poised to be the heir to Green Throne. Long story short Vinny T has spent 21 years in the NFL is 6th on All time passing yardage list, and 9th all time in passing touchdowns. He is hardly a bust.

October 24, 200718 yr Played for the Saints and had a couple of nice seasons. Also had a few good seasons with the Washington Redskins. If I'm not mistaken, the 1st winner, Jay Berwanger, never even tried to play pro football.
October 24, 200718 yr Troy Smith isn't look so good either... who did he go to? I don't know that you can say he flopped for a couple of reasons. First, as noted by others in this thread, he is currently behind McNair, and so his actual playing cannot yet be judged. Second, he was always targeted as a college player who probably wouldn't do much in the NFL due to his stature. If you will recall, there was a great deal of apprehension for some people in the Heisman voting because they weren't sure if he was pro-material. Thus, I wouldn't consider him a flop or bust, but I suppose if he does not go on to have a great NFL career, he just won't translate well from college to pros as was forecasted by many.
October 24, 200718 yr Beban from UCLA in 1967 was a bust. I'm not for sure he even played in the pros.

October 25, 200718 yr Ladies, he didn't win...but did have an interesting life. Has a son and doing quite well, doesn't have any money problems. He almost can beat me in Ping Pong.:jump:
