Alot of you all should have watched the Jim Rome show today, and he address this very issue. He pretty much said in not so many words that the Bengals would not be smart at all if we traded him, because he is as I said at the very bottom of the list of many reasons why the bengals are losing...

Considering many of these same Bengals fans double as Kentucky hoops fans, is this really a surprise?

Most of his career he has caught the passes across the middle..Yeah last year after he took that big hit against Cleveland, for a couple of games there he started to short arm some stuff..But watch alot of his routes he runs, especially that timing route in the middle of the field him and Palmer do all the time. He usually jumps up between 3 people and catches the ball, and then he protects himself from getting the big hit..More times than not in his career he has caught the passes across the middle, than he has short armed passes. Chris Henry probably has short armed more passes in 2 years than Chad has his whole career...

So what you are saying if you get the right amount in return, that it is worth trading someone..So say we trade Carson Palmer to the Ravens for Ray Lewis, and Ed Reed, would that make us a better team? Because I mean we would be getting the right amount in return...Yeah that would be crazy though to do that woudn't it? Just like it is to trade Chad Johnson.

 

I know you mentioned before that we could do what the Broncos did in trading Portis for Champ. However one big difference, the Broncos can plug anyone at runningback and still have one of the best running games. That is why they was able to make that trade..We get rid of Chad Johnson and our passing game goes down badly..I mean just look we are having a hard enough time just trying to find a number THREE receiver to go along in this offense. So you want to get rid of our #1 receiver, I mean I cant imagine how hard it would be to replace him then since we cant even replace a #3 receiver. And dont even say Chris Henry, because that would just be stupid to put your faith in a guy who is one screw up away from being out of the NFL for good...Also yeah trade Chad for Merriman, that really is another step up in character for this franchise. A guy who has been proven to be a cheater, and if he does something like that again he would be gone for a year. And even if we got Merriman it would make our defense a little better, but it would not solve everything. So we would have a defense that is still a weak link, and an offense now that isn't as good as before...So no if we made that trade you suggest it does not make us better at all...

But he has the physical gifts to make Chad Johnson look downright ordinary, were he to ever get his head on straight.

No one in the NFL has the physical gifts to make Chad Johnson ordinary. He is as gifted as anyone. The simple fact is that both of these players fall into the lack of discipline catagory, on one end or the other.
