Futurecoach, one of these days when you start coaching football you are going to have to ask yourself a couple of questions. Will you belive in a discipline policy and procedure that you follow for all of your athletes, or will it be more important to have "athleticism" on the field. You will find the longer you are around the game that athleticism does nothing besides make easy plays against easy competition when it is not accompanied by discipline. Chad is one of the most talanted recievers in the league. Hom many times have you seen him go hard across the middle in the last three years vs. alligator arm the football. As good as he is, his selfishness keeps him from being as good as he can be.

 

I love when people use this coach talk, and try to tell me how I should be...Trust me people I know this stuff already and believe in discipline..And well as I just said in another post, if people are going to blame anyone it all goes on Marvin Lewis. Chad has acted this same way from the very beginning. If Chad has been such a problem as you all say, then Marvin should have fixed this when he first got to Cincy. However he let it go and didn't do anything. Maybe it is because Chad isn't a problem like people say..Or maybe Marvin has different rules for everyone, but is that Chad fault? Not at all. I mean he has not done anything to Chad before, and well Chad still acts the same way, so why if he let it go before should he start doing it now. I mean how could he, you cant let something go, and then all of a sudden start saying that is not alright and start discipling for it, if he is still doing the same thing that wasn't a problem before...As I said I love this town, and how when things aren't going well. People try to find one guy to put the blame on. Baseball in was Adam Dunn, and now its Chad in football...And guess what people neither one of them were the reasons why the teams are losing. In baseball it was because of bad pitching, especially the bull pen. In football its because of a terrible defense, a bangup offensive line, and a terrible special teams group...I would bet ALOT of money on that if this defense was just even decent and the special teams was good and the offensive line healthy, and this team was winning, even with Chad being Chad. That hardly anyone would be saying anything about him...

But you all are right, this thread is just funny. I know I sure you all would love it to see us trade Chad Johnson away. I find it really funny how people want to count on a guy to step in for Chad, that is suspended right now and one more wrong thing away from never playing in the NFL again in Chris Henry..A guy who has short armed more passes already, than Chad Johnson has for his career. A guy who is a great 3rd receiver, but has proven nothing that he would be able to have the work ethic to beat double teams every week, if he was one of our top 2 receivers with Chad gone...This town in Cincinnati is just really funny, how if things aren't going great, we will try to blame one person for it, even though that person produces and helps this team win more than just about anyone on the team...

 

IF there is going to be any change in the off season IMO, it would need to be Marvin Lewis. He has shown that he is not a good game coach at all. He is the worst in history with timeouts and challenges. He is suppose to be a defensive genius, yet after 5 years our defense has actually gotten worse. Then if Chad is such a problem like people have said, then Marvin should have straightened him out from the very beginning, because its not like Chad is doing anything different this year than he has in years past. I mean if we got a new coach, it has been proven already this year, that a coach can change a player. I mean look at Moss with the Pats, and even TO in Dallas with the new coach. If a coach right from the beginning talks, and gets everything straighted out with these guys, then it has shown that these guys can change..As I said I dont believe Chad is as big of a problem though, and is the reason for why we are losing like people have hinted at. However if it is true, then that blame should go on Marvin Lewis for letting it happen all these years...

Hmmm no I have been here all of along, and I stand by what I said. In that no one was complaining about Chad really when the Bengals were winning.....

Chad needs to shut up and understand that he plays w/ one of the top 5 QB's in the league and his offense likes to throw the ball. If he's traded (I hope he isn't) I hope its to someone like the Vikes or Dolphins that can't throw the football. Put him on a bad team w/ a bad QB and he's just as big of a cry baby as TO and Moss when they were in those spots.

 

And Chad is one of the top five WR's in the league. When does Chad EVER complain about his situation overall? Give me a frickin break...

I am one of the few on here that was a critic of Johnson when things were going good. I have always said that I like him but I think he is to much of a me guy. I don't think you trade him away. TJ+Chad plus Henry equals a 1,2,3 punch at WR that hardly any other team in the NFL can match. Why ruin that? Obviously they need to do something on the other side of the ball and I've said over and over they need to go get a legit TE too! Stick somebody like Dallas Clark or Jason Witten in there and you have no answer for the Bengals offense. Gates is in a league of his own but I think a really good TE makes the Bengals almost unstoppable on offense. I say keep Chad, keep his mouth shut and go get some defense! The oline has to step up too! If I could shop Chad for somebody young like Fitzgerald that keeps his mouth shut and is solid then I'd do it but that's not going to happen.

No I was paying attention. The only thing people really were saying bad about him was that they didn't like his celebrations and should just hand the ball the to the official..Now since they are losing people are saying that he is the reason why they are losing, and if he didn't act like that, that this team would not be where they are now. I mean this whole thing about should the bengals trade Chad is a complete joke. This just shows that people really actually must think that Chad is the reason why the Bengals are losing, and it is not at all. There is alot of reasons why they are losing, and IF he really is one of the reasons why they are losing, it would be near the bottom of the list of all the reasons why the Bengals are losing...

Get a DT and LB...if they can still get that much for him

Would Chad be one of the top 5 receivers if he played w/ Tavaris Jackson as his QB and no other WR threat? Doubtful. Carson and Chad make each other better period.

 

Anyone who throws a punch at a coach at halftime of a game and is allowed to play in the second half of that game will probably think he will never be disciplined by those coaches. That's the problem. I don't have a problem w/ how hard he works or how good of a player he is. I have a problem that he's more worried about dancing and jumping into the dog pound than winning football games.
