Well the ROCK finished their open week. They probably been working on their stragey for this week against Mercer. I will go with the ROCK on this one and see them win by 3 touchdowns. Let's hear some of your predictions and comments.:fight::fight::fight:

Rock 21 MC 14. Rock is a run stopping machine no matter the year.

Rock 42

Mercer 21

Rock finally seems to be playing at full stride.

I don't think they ever was playing that bad, they just played good football teams during their skid.

Bell, Harrison, and Lincoln are clearly better than Rock this year. Knox on the other hand was a mild upset, but not huge. Coach Larkey will never lose games they should not, they lost to 3 very good football teams.

There are some pretty bold predictions and on victory margin on here for the Rock. 3 TD's, 42-21 are all pretty wide margins for two teams that are 4-4 and 4-5.

Both teams have played pretty solid schedules and both have lost some close games that could have easily gone in another direction.

I'll take Mercer in this one: 21-14.

I also like Mercer in this game. Rockcastle has had some problems scoring points. 3 times their opponents have kept them out of the endzone. I'll say 21-7 Titans.

One of those, Mercer, has not only had 5 games go in another direction, but 2 of those were decided as time ran out on the clock (Mercer with the ball on the Lincoln 5 yd line, 4th down, with :06 to play and Hoptown, where Mercer misses a 31 yd field goal as time expired) and then this past week with South Laurel scoring the go ahead with :28 to play in the game. Three games decided in the last 00:30-0:00. I have never seen anything like it!!!

No doubt in my mind that this weeks game will be a slobber knocker. Hard nosed, power football, the way the game was meant to be played...on display between two very good teams, despite what their records might indicate. Best of luck to both! Go Titans! :thumb:

Rockastle Co. 28-21.

Rockets by 13. I look for Rock to miss an extra point. No matter how many close games you have, a good team will pull at LEAST one of those out. No excuses, Rockcastle has lost 4 games, but we lost them because the other team was better, (at least for that night :D )

To me, personally, the only thing that the Mercer and Whitley county games are good for is to allow the freshmen/sophomores to gain experience. Rockcastle County is a proud program and would not take to losing kindly. The point I am trying to get at is that the playoffs are already seeded. Rock play Knox, if they advance then they play (probably) Bell county. To me, if we can get past those teams we can beat anyone in 4-A. So to me, I would try to see what the 1st and 2nd year players can do.

Sorry for the novel. :D

Mercer has....v.s 4A, Greeneville, TN who is currently 6-2 and in the thick of things in their very tough big school district in East Tennessee, and their class as a whole. (just from what friends of mine that I played college ball, who are from Tennesse, tell me).

Im like you, though, I think that Mercer, along with your Rockets are as capable as any teams in their respected classes in making a run at it...but, first things first.:thumb:

Im not making predictions on this one, never do for that matter, but I see this game being a lot like the Rock/Lincoln game. Their might not be 14 points scored in the whole thing....then, again, I might be eating crow...but will gladly do so, just as long as it is in Mercer's favor.:D

WHAT!!!!That is absurd.

Besides Rock only has 32 players and they have been playing 6-7 sophmores all year anyway. If you are referring to playing 9th graders then please rethink your strategy. Rock is only playing 4 seniors, some juniors and a lot of sophmores already.

I know you didn't mean for it to sound this way but that smacks of a disrespect for Mercer's program. I think Rockastle has a great program for a long time but it's not like they have a great history of state titles that dwarfs Mercer-Harrodsburg.

When you compare the common opponents and the schedules this one should be very close.

I like Mercer Co. in this one 28-14.

Titans 14-13. Rock misses field goal as time expires!
