Any one know what Scott Co's JV record was before the Birds? I was told their JV hadn't lost in years and didn't know if that was true.

 

Not sure but anytime you beat Scott Co you should definitely cherish the Victory. They are a machine down there and maybe not so much in football but they get a huge draw in that area. Nice win Birds.

My apologies LN...don't want you, or anyone else, divulging sensitive state secrets regarding a backup QB. Scouts may get that "competitive advantage" on beating the Big Blue from such sensitive and critical info. We're probably the only school in the state that's 5 deep in quality QB candidates. (Cecil-Guidugli-Bardo-Turner-Draper)

Oliver Head may be the best all around athlete on that team that doesnt see much or any playing time on Fri. nites. Whatever the reason is that he doesnt play on Fridays is irrelavant and pointless and the kid should be touching the ball and being used in key situations such as special team returns.

Believe it or not, this was the FIRST time in 40+ years (yikes!) that Sarge and I have EVER disagreed, been sarcastic with, or in general ragged at each other!:argue:

Jake Turner is the best non-quarterback qb I have seen in a long time. The kid has some serious game to him and is a natural leader as a signal caller. Not sure though that I agree with not trying to develope the younger QB's during some of these JV games. Bringing Frosh kids up just to stand on the sidelines doesnt make a lot of sense to me.

 

Unless I'm missing something, which could be the case, I assume they are brought up for "numbers" in case of injury. I'm assuming most of the players brought up are Frosh starters? If that's the case they're getting time during their respective games. The majority of the JV players see very little time at the varsity level. Therefore, they deserve to get their time during JV games. Your comment on Jake is accurate and deserved. Jake has stepped up and gotten the job done under difficult circumstances.

Being asked to "dress-up" on JV as a Frosh is an HONOR! Any playing time recieved is a bonus. ESPECIALLY at a program like Highlands. Jeez, no wonder it was a coin-flip this year!

Yeah, but this one kid being labled as a QB means that position is the only place he will play. This kid was one of the leading taklers last year in the 7th & 8th grade league. Why not use this kid like all of the other frosh that were moved up on maybe a couple special teams. He was once again the only player that didn't play more than 2 or 3 plays two weeks in a row. When your team is up the way they were on Sat, all players should play somewhere.

Why would they just put him in on special teams when there is a host of other kids for those positions. It's like in college and your a frosh. and they ask you to travel, the only reason your there in most cases is if a starter or second teamer get injured. You travel hours to stand on the sidelines. This is when players learn to be a part of a team. You don't always get to play when you want to but be ready and willing to do anything and everything they ask of you.

We're not talking about college here. We're talking about a Junior Varsity game where the coaches are suppose to be developing players for the future, not worrying about winning by 4 to 5 touchdowns. I get your point about the QB should be playing that paticular position, but if the JV was in such need of a QB then Tony would be playing down. My other point is, he is just as good as the other freshman that played almost the entire game but is never given a chance because Dale doesn't like his QB's to play both ways.
