I have to disagree, I think the defense is much improved.

Last year's defense was not very good especially in the backfield. IMHO, I think the defense is much better, I will put their linebacking corps up against anybody's in the country.

 

Laurinitis covers so much ground (Better than A.J.) No disrespect to Hawk.

Marcus Freeman is finally healthy and beginning to show why he was so highly touted. And, Larry Grant has 3 sacks and 7.5 TFL.

 

Defense is pretty good, but we may have to wait till Illinois & Meat-Chicken to find out just how good.

 

You think the defense is much better this year when last year all the OSU fans were screaming "Best D in the country" and some even "Best D ever" all through the regular season? That was until they gave up about 40 a game over the last two. We will see how good this D really is eventually.

I felt like last years defense was not good at all and that showed the last two games the Bucks played.

Leak had a lil over 200 yards passing. The 3 backs had 150 yards rushing which was too much. The D spent too much time on the field 3 quarters, offense had one 3rd down conversion.

 

Couple of field goals and Tebows 4th quarter sugar coated TD made it look bad.

 

Don't put any UL comparions in an OSU thread..... we will never nose dive that bad.

 

 

Did you actually watch the game? Florida scored on 6 out of 7 first half possessions. The defense was just shredded in the first half and the game was over at halftime. The game was purely and simply dominated by Florida. OSU had 82 yards of total offense and only scored on one offensive possession (the other came on special teams). The only reason it wasn't worse is that Florida was content to grind the clock down with a 20 point lead and their defense continually stuffing the Buckeyes.

Who's number one in the country? Check the BCS rankings. As far as im concerned its ohio state. Easy schedule or not.

 

I am still really impressed with UK this year also!

 

As far as South Florida, sorry im not a believer.

 

LSU GREAT D but not sold on the offense yet.

 

Florida cant finish big games. Too young.

 

West Virginia is too one deminsional. A good D can stop that. Although more balanced than last year in my opinion.

 

Boston College i've yet so see play so i dont have anything on them.

What really saddens me is that I think Ohio State will go undefeated. I think the only team in the Big 10 that might beat them is Michigan. Penn State is decent, but its another one of those slow Big 10 teams, that Ohio State matches up great with. Wisconsin was overrated and now people know that. Illinois might be able to give OSU some problems. Michigan though I think will once again be able to score on that OSU defense, and well Michigan's defense is fine when playing teams who dont run the spread offense. So think the defense will do good against OSU. So I know UM is my only hope for seeing OSU lose a game this year IMO...

 

I know I definitely dont want to see OSU in the National Championship game, playing a team with speed like LSU and get smoked again...

Ted Ginn doesnt get hurt after smoking floridas kickoff team and the game is a different story. Now, I agree florida still wins the game. But OSU does not get "smoked". They would've had another threat on offense to get the ball to and therefore soaked up some clock. :thumb:

I was being sarcastic I think the D is much improved. Like I said we were young last year. I agree we have 3 or so first round draft picks on D more than likely.

Very true on one touch alone he showed you what he could do....we still would have lost with how we played but he would have made an impact.

Ohio St. schedules OOC opponets 6 to 10 years in advance. When this year's game was scheduled, Washington was in the middle of a pretty good run.

 

This year and next are a bit unusual as far as scheduling goes, because the NCAA decided to permanately add the 12th game. Most teams had to scramble to find an opponent and the only place they could put that game was in the "off" week inside of conference play.

 

I can handle OSU playing one Ohio school each season, I think its good for the state of football. IMO. I am not happy with this years schedule, but as has been stated it is the hand the Bucks have been dealt and they are doing what they are supposed to do.

I agree that economics drive the schedules (I can't tell you that I am there counting the money, but it seems logical). However, I got to think that a Wildcats, Cocks, Hogs, and even a Vandy A.D wouldn,t agree to playing a great (yes I said great) program like OSU. But, for OSU to say no due to economic reasons is ludicrus. Even Kentucky, when they go 5 and 6 (or whatever) draw a huge crowd; at least at much as Kent or some other MAC school. IMO, playing a 2nd tier SEC team would be a huge draw. I mean, consider playing an Auburn or Tennessee this year, I think CBS covered TN vs Cal. Never the less, I still think the Big Ten needs to cross the Ohio river and play some football. What could possibly go wrong!?!

I appreciate your calling the Big Ten average. I am not sure they are that good. Right now I think they trail the SEC, PAC 10, ACC. Don't get me wrong, I love Big Ten Football, but right now it is just not very strong in terms of overall strength. I am one Buckeye who does not wear blinders when it comes to strength of conferences.

 

The SEC is far and away the best conference in College Football. Ohio State has a terrible history vs. SEC teams.

I love OSU playing all the local OH college teams..... real nice way to advertise our program/system to hands down some of the best HS talent in the country.

 

OSU's blue moon break ends soon... like I said signed a 2 year deal with USC starting next year, then Miami, FL,.... Cal, Oklahoma, Vtech.. all over the next 10 years.

Yea, whatever it takes to rationalize that schedule. Play some ball in the south. OSU has shown a great performance on the road this year... too bad that road was not I-75 South, (I-71 from Columbus). Once again, get on mapquest and find a school in the SEC to play.

I know OSU fans are saying how they will start to play some tough teams. However yeah it is improvement from the teams they have been playing, but I definitely wouldn't call them tough games. I mean we talked about how most the teams in the SEC would be tougher games than some of the teams OSU still has to play. But I mean I think the top 5 or even 6 teams in the Big East would be tougher games than these teams OSU has to still play in the Big 10. So yeah these games do get tougher compared to what they have been playing, but we definitely wont get to still see anything that really will show us if OSU really is the "best" team in the nation. I mean I think the toughest game they will have is Michigan, who lost to a 2A school...So sadly I dont think we will get to see how good OSU is until the the bowl games, which might not be a good thing...
