There are still great kids in the world...

Too often we only hear the bad stories. Read this: a tear will come to your eye. And just like these young men, there are great stories to be told about numerous high schoolers.

It was halftime at the Lake Fenton-Mount Morris game, seemingly just another high school football contest during another homecoming week on another October Friday night in another American suburb.

But this time the fix was in.

Four Lake Fenton (Mich.) football players and a co-conspirator on the golf team arranged it. Seniors all, they'd used their cell phones to hatch and agree on the plan, and then met outside the school building the afternoon before the big homecoming game to nail it down.

Lose on purpose?

Jake Kirk, the ringleader and a Blue Devils' running back, saw the decision differently: "We knew we'd all be winners if we did it."

Thanks for sharing! More stories like this are out there and need to be told as we live in a world where we don't hear enough about the good things people do. You were right, it brought a tear to my eye!

One word...................CLASS!!!!

Next time your at a game or sitting on the computer ready to comment about a coach, a ref, or a player, remember this story and what is really important in this game we call life. This story hits very close to home in the Highlands Football community.

Good job to these teams and the best to the young man and his family.

Wow. Thanks for sharing this. Powerful story.

Those guys are very special. As a former high school football player, I say thanks to these guys for doing the unbelievable, being a great person, which I must say, is very rare.

What a heart-wrenching situation, and a fantastic gesture by these kids who did this on their own. But it's also a tribute to the communities they're in! All too often, adults selfishly exert so much pressure this simply would not happen, even though it would be much less uncommon if more kids were able to grow for themselves, instead of driven entirely by those who distance themselves after that last game! Sure, these kids gain some direction and develop a better understanding of the work ethic they'll need, but their views of winning are more than they're given credit for. We need to remember where we came from and, hopefully, make it more conducive for them to become a part of the communites they've given so much of their youth to. They understand "dog eat dog" much earlier than we did! And they should know their sacrifices were not only for themselves.

Great story...

Having a hard time typing this through the tears, Thank God for young people like these. It sure restores my faith in our future in this country.

We just need to make sure we have a country with a future to leave them! As long we maintain our present position in the world, along with substantial adjustments needed to ensure their future stability, we will be able to feel good about their future. We're still the greatest country in the world, but our borders need secured and our social system is almost beyond fixing. If we continue to borrow from Social Security, it won't be there for them. We need strong leadership to defend our country, and those with the courage to make the necessary changes, or we'll leave them with a country that's broke and without the ability to assist those who are truly in need.

Wow. What a great story. It brought a lump to my throat, and tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing. :thumb:
