Why shouldn't they? It's a win-win proposition.

I agree with the above. I'd also have severe penalties for selling to minors and selling unregulated cannibis. I'd also tax the heck out of it. Also, I'd continue to allow employers to test for and fire employees who test positive for marijuana.

It would keep our already way over crowded jails & prisons from becoming over populated with pot dealers.

If it's legalized what right would an employer have to fire someone for using?

It would keep our already way over crowded jails & prisons from becoming over populated with pot dealers.

It would flood our streets, roads, shopping plazas, groceries, etc....with more under the influence people.

 

NO....generating revenue, wouldn't offset the harm for legalizing this junk.

Take away the jail time and add exorbitant fines if that is the issue. Jail time only for those who refuse to pay.

If you tax it so much that it is not affordable why do you think there will not be an underground market for it bypassing the tax issue like there is now. I don't see how tax the bejives out of it does anything. Those doing it now, don't care about following the law so why would we think they would all of a sudden want to follow the law and pay taxes on it and run the price up?

No. We have allowed too much stuff to slip by.

I think that legalizing it would decrease usage. I've had a lot of people tell me that they stopped drinking, or at least drink considerably less, since turning 21...

And how has that worked for keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and preventing gun crime and deaths?

 

This mindset that somehow government will do "this" right and control it when they don't have control of tobacco and alcohol with sales to minors, underage drinking, DUI's, deaths to drunk drivers, the huge costs to health care because of tobacco, is hilarious at best.

Against:

 

* Marijuana is a doorway drug to harsher more dangerous drug use

* Pot makes you stupid

* Crime rates will increase

* It will make the drug readily available to our country's youth

* Marijuana is dangerous and causes lung cancer

 

For:

 

* Marijuana creates pacifism and is a stress reliever

* Will decrease the crime rate if the herb is readily available. It will eliminate the need of an underground subculture

* Marijuana has medicinal values

* No one has ever died from smoking marijuana

* Pot enhances creativity
