If it's legalized what right would an employer have to fire someone for using?

Because a person can smoke at home and show up for work high.

If you tax it so much that it is not affordable why do you think there will not be an underground market for it bypassing the tax issue like there is now. I don't see how tax the bejives out of it does anything. Those doing it now, don't care about following the law so why would we think they would all of a sudden want to follow the law and pay taxes on it and run the price up?

As Bigbluefreak pointed out, you could heavily tax it and it still would be cheaper than underground. It would also be cheaper to produce. When the black market risks spending serious time in jail, I think you'll see a far, far smaller illegal market, especially when buyers can get it legally.

So....theres a lot of controversy with it being illegal.

 

That I know. But I think if it were made legal, the tables would simply turn. People are trying to make a push for legality right now...and if it becomes legal, I think several groups would form to "reverse the process." Which to me solves nothing.

 

In this case however, I think the positives far outweight the negatives of marijuana usage/regulation.

I am in support of it. I personally don't care for it, as it never had any real effect on me. I am not against it. I would regulate it heavily, and tax it that way as well. A lot of our nation's problems would be given an assist right away.

So we should legalize things, because they merit potential revenue or tax, for our nation.

 

I can think of many different methods of generating revenue, other than legalizing this.

I think we should legalize removing copper from power stations. A lot of people are doing it nowadays. Some are getting electrocuted. This way we could regulate it.

I agree but you run into the problem of people going across the state line and bringing it back. I don't think it will work unless it is an all or nothing scenario.

A portion of that money could be used to fund more drug education programs in the school systems. I don't know how much that would help but it couldn't hurt.

I second that. I think by legalizing it, marijuana would not be thrown in with dangerous drugs like cocaine, heroin, etc. It would basically cut the ties to the underground drug market...which would decrease the chances of someone being exposed to synthetic drugs.

· Eliminate tax shelters, for anyone making over $250,000

· Increase Federal taxes, for Corporations with business locations outside of US

· Higher Import/Export taxes, of tangible goods leaving/entering US

· Politicians, pay for there own travel and security, unless in the Presidential Cabinet

· Eliminate pillaging by the Health Care System, with exorbitant prices

· National cap, on credit card interest rate

I see, I agree completely with the healthcare issue. But I think the subject of marijuana should be addressed before having to think of raising taxes of cigarettes/alcohol or what have you.

Not me, if you want to indulge in alcohol, pay for it....If you want to smoke, kill yourself and others....pay for it.

 

What does having it legal do, other than potentially generate revenue. It does nothing substantial, for anyone other than those requiring it, for medical reasons.

 

I never understood the concept of "because it would create money", we should legalize it. My philosophy is, you make something legal, which is currently illegal, than our society better be able to cope with it, in rural areas, poverty stricken areas, inner-cities, schools, at work and we all know those are current problem areas.
