Isn't there also 'scientific research' that says drinking alcohol only kills the slow moving brain cells? Thus, drinking makes you smarter because you're eliminating the brain cells that are slowing you down, mentally...

Unless it is used to be prescribed for health benefits I truly see no benefit of making this drug legal. The negatives far outweigh the positives IMO.

Interesting argument about the jobs that would be eliminated if it was legalized... Had never thought of that.

 

As far as making it harder for underage people to get ahold of it, I don't even think it matters if it is legal or illegal. If someone underage wants to smoke, they can get cigarettes... If someone underage wants to drink, they can get alcohol. It is not hard hard at all.

If it is mental, does not make it any less powerful. And might make it even more powerful as you can't just get it physically out of your system and be over it.

Purchasing cigarettes by minors is illegal. How has that worked out in preventing minors from obtaining them?

Why don't they make it illegal to drink caffeine or take Aspirin?

More people die from those annually than weed.

I agree. We are talking deaths aren't we??? That's the biggest thing that can happen from using drugs. Death. The only reason people are against it is because it is already illegal. If it were not illegal like Tobacco and Alcohol, people would not be saying anything about it.

Yes it does make it less powerful. Addiction to marijuana is no different than addiction to junk food, video games, gambling etc.

LBBC, it seems as if you would like for the government to rule all decisions that we make. As adults, and creations of God Almighty, we are given free will. Some choose poorly, MOST choose wisely. The legalization of marijuana would not entice me to start smoking it, but it might raise the revenue in the this Commonwealth and nation. As far as the complaint of losing jobs, believe me, they will not be cutting back on law enforcement officers, many would be assigned other tasks, while the remaining would be enforcing the riddance of controlled substances. The tax money from legalized marijuana sales, would certainly overcome some labor $ that maybe needed.

And if you make the same broad categorization of me, I would say you guys think EVERYTHING should be legal and adults should make all of their own decisions, irregardless of the fall out to society.

 

I do not think it should be the business of government to make negative things easier for people to do.

 

I think government should be about building people up and helping them while not providing them or making access to the means easier to tear themselves down.
