titletownclown
Wow, the emotions this video stir in me are not allowed to be articulated on this website under current BGP guidelines. I'll just say this. This nation's current level of "tolerance" will ultimately be its undoing. God bless the veteran in the video.:thumb:
rockcastleraiders
Great stuff :thumb: Watch it, I guarantee that this veteran is sued for his honorable actions. And it truly discusts me. It seems everyone does something Admirable they get cut down (no pun intended) for it.
SportsGuy41017
First, I guess it is private property. But I didn't know that flying a flag above the American flag was illegal. I am assuming most don't know that, including the onwer of the place. You can can't fly another flag above the US flag, yet you can burn the US flag? sportsfan41
Good for the veteran. I'll be keeping my eyes pealed for flag haters in our area but really don't foresee that type of thing happening around here.
SportsGuy41017
If you did not know that I got to question what our education system is teaching kids.....oh yeah I forgot CATS.... No need to get all negative and insulting! Plus I am far from being a kid old man, lol! I am sure besides myself A LOT don't know it! Besides you, as you will only get all insulting on people, How can certain stuff be done to the flag and be okay but flying something above it isn't OK? Isn't it still a free country, freedom of speech? I am not saying I agree with it, and I think you should flying the US flag higher, but I didn't know you couldn't fly one higher, although flying them at equal heights would be appropriate. cshs81
I, too, did not know that flying another country's flag above the US flag is illegal. I know I'm in the minority on this one but I don't see the big deal. If the business owner wants to fly his country's flag higher, so be it. Let the market decide if he stays in business. My guess is that most on here would not patronize this business which could cause him to go out of business. Am I the only one that doesn't get the "they fought for our freedom to live freely" and yet we have laws like this? I don't get it.

My guess is that most on here would not patronize this business which could cause him to go out of business. It is a law and I think the law should be upheld. I do think in all likelihood the biggest reason the Mexican flag is over the American flag is out of ignorance of the store owner. I don't care for the vigilante type behavior of the man who pulled down the flag. A simple request to the city would probably have resulted in the flags being rearranged without the destruction of property. Being a veteran doesn't make you above the law in regard to upholding it. As far as his business is concerned I think it highly likely that 90 to 100% of his business catered to Mexican immigrants anyway. Having the flag up there does little to hurt his business. cshs81
What is the value of having this as a law?
titletownclown
What is the value of having this as a law? Perhaps you should ask this question to veterans who served in combat situations. They would probably provide the best answers to this question.
cch5432
What is the value of having this as a law? What is the point of a country having a flag if you can hang whatever flag of whatever country that you want to?

Wasn't trying to be insulting and if I came across that way I apologize. I had a great uncle that was a POW in WWII so I guess it was a more common topic in our family than some others. leo42171
What is the value of having this as a law? My Grandpa told me this in a bar that the reason the American flag is always supposed to be higher than any other flag goes back to the Revolutionary War. Back then every state had there own flag that flew over the forts. If you were from South Carolina and you were lost in Virginia and you were not familiar with what their flag looked like, you wouldn’t know if you were in friendly territory. So the US mandated that the American Flag must be flown at all forts and if other flags were flown it must also be the highest. After the Civil War it was a symbol of solidarity between the North & South. I don’t know when the tradition officially became law, but why would any red blooded American be against the law?
