What the Heck just happened to me?

Featured Replies

Okay, I was laying on the couch sleeping when my girlfreind got home and woke me up. I mopped around a little bit then I went to lay in her bed. After a few minutes my body started to shake uncontrollably. I knew what was going on and didn't have a fever and wasn't hysterical but my body was shaking and I couldn't get it to stop. I called my aunt and she told me to take some IbProfien. After about ten minutes of this crazy shaking it stopped and now I feel fine, just a little afraid to go to bed..

What should I do?

Had you eaten anything before or after the nap??

I am not a doctor, however, this same situation had happened to a friend of mine about six years ago. She ended up going and seeing a doctor for it. He sent her to a Neurologist. This doctor ran some test and found out it was a seizure. After that, she started having many more episodes and was placed on medications for this. They called hers night seizures or something like that. She had never had anything like this to happen to her before. She still has one off and on. Nothing had started these seizures and she had never had one until that time.

I would also look into blood sugar issues or blood pressure issues. I think I would seek out medical help for it if this happens again or if you notice anything else out of the ordinary.

Thank goodness this isn't in the P&R forum.

Yeah, it was nuts. I've never not been able to control my body like that. I didn't have a temp or anything but I was having hot and cold flashes.. I didn't go get it checked out but if it happens again i'll sure be at the doctor.

I had dinner about two hours earlier.

I don't think Ibuprofen an anti-inflam drug is going to help for something that sounds like a CNS issue. First thing that comes to mind is convulsions, which would make me think a seizure issue, but surely you know know if you have seizure issues before this more than likely. It could be a broad scope of issues but none of them are to take lightly if it as a CNS issue. Do you have blood sugar issues at all?

I would go to your DR early next week for standard tests.

Ask your doctor about possible thyroid issues. But, do see your doctor.

Nope no blood sugar issues, I'm only 19.

Sounds like it could be a seizure, regardless, I'd probably go see the doctor.

A friend of mine who played college basketball didn't develop/show signs of diabetes until age 19. Just because you are young does not mean that you can't develop some more serious conditions. The good thing is that most of these things (diabetes/seisure disorders) can be controlled through medication. However, left untreated, some conditions will only get worse.

I agree with whoever told you that you need to go to your MD early this week. I would quit taking advice from whoever told you to just take an ibuprofen.

Age does not matter with blood sugar issues. Type 2 diabetes can happen at any time in your life.
