UC's Brian Kelly: Is it Premature?

Featured Replies

Is it premature to worry about Coach Kelly's options that he might have in the near future? He's 4-0 with a win over one team that has a chance to be solid (too early to tell) . I love the fact that there is excitement for local football but I say we let the season play out before we worry if he'll be getting a call from Ann Arbor or Auburn, AL.

Or if you want to lose your mind like Lance did today, you can wonder if he's the next Bengals coach.

By the way, is there a more inane question that asking a college coach if he plans on staying where he's at?

He won't be there for more than 2 years. IMO.

That's the biggest waste of time in television/media!

I could forsee a move to a "higher" level school, if you know what I mean. Cincinnati is in the Big East and seem to be building a nice program, but outside of this area they don't really have a great deal of name-recognition right now. That's not a knock on the program, that's just the truth right now. I think a move to the SEC/ACC/Big XII might be a possibility. I think schools like Virginia, Ole Miss or Texas A&M (if their jobs open up this offseason) would make a strong push for Coach Kelly.

Yes...

Yes...

So no chance he'll leave? Or just don't worry about it until Christmas?

Yes...

With the way coaches climb the ladder these days I really don't think it is.

With the way his contract is structured it shouldn't be an issue until at least 09. I just don't see it as an issue for a few more years...

I don't think it's premature but Bearcat fans should soak it all in while they can, he's done great things in a very short time while in Clifton.

I think its to early. This team needs a big bowl game before he jumps ship, if he does.

Let me say it to save others the trouble:

"Isn't Kelly winning with Mark D's players?"

1. Yes

2. He will be expected to win with some other team's players if and when he changes jobs.

Note: I do think Mark D. does not/has not gotten enough credit.
