If this is the kind of margin of victory one team may have over another, then is it safe to assume both teams are pretty close together with respect to how good they are?

Why? I mean, it seems that BG has a great team with some real studs... HHS has shown that they are not infallible, with the errors they made last week (TDs called back, costly TOs).

They also proved that they can overcome errors...even when the opponent has some real studs. Anyone remember a lil' team called Trotwood-Madison??? Birds' do what they gotta do to win. Sometimes big, sometimes not as big.

I know that you showed how 3A has had the best teams play from each side of the state, but were those teams the best from beginning to end of season or did they progressively become the best team toward the end of the year by proof. You seem to have a huge knowledge of football, with that experience and all of your experiences through any sports you played or teams you've been a part of, have you never witnessed an upset? I just don't feel that the two best teams will make it to state. First of all, how do we know that these two are the best? I am not yet convinced on BG. I am definitely convinced by Highlands. Not because Highlands is undefeated but because I am comparing the Birds to other Highlands teams, not their opponents. I truly believe that you know where I am coming from J-DUB!

I have seen BGHS and they impressed me a great deal...I know HHS is loaded....of of gut feeling I will go with the Purples.

I can't believe we are discussing mid-season and have a poll on two teams that may or may not meet this year and if they do it will be the last game of the season.:creepy:

 

I'm going with Highlands. Every year I hear that this is Bowling Greens' year and then something happens in the play-offs and it ends early for them. I hope this is the year that Bowling Green makes it to the second Friday in December and I'm betting that Highlands will meet them there.

Coach Dan Goble coached at Christian County and is retired now. Coach Kevin Wallace is in his 12th season after succeeding Dan Haley. Coach Haley's final game was against Highlands in 1995.

I am going with Bowling Green. I know what Henry said about everyone saying this is the year that BG will do it, however, I really think that they have what it takes!! Take these two examples:

 

1. Look how they played the Trinity team. They were in the lead and actually could have pulled it off.

 

2. Central does not have a good record right now, however, look at the teams they have played and then look at what they lost by. Now, look at what BG did to them. Actually, the same can be said with Boyle Co. Boyle County's opponents have a combined record of 19 and 5 this year to date.

 

I really believe that THIS is BG's year!!! Go Purples...and remember play to have fun and to build memories!!!

I would have to go with the Birds by 10 or more.

I'm not sure why these 2 are being compared so early. The BG folks are not thinking about state championship right now...just winning the next game. It's very obvious from these and previous posts that BG doesn't get much respect from the Northern Ky fans. That's okay. BG did lose the last 2 years at Papa Johns, but they did MAKE IT TO THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ! After losing 30 seniors from last year, most Purple fans are thrilled with the Purple's success so far this year.

As to jbckentucky's comments, it's a shame you have such a low opinion of BG's depth at the defensive positions and inability to stop the run. Yes, they gave up a lot of rushing yards to Boyle, but it was the opening game of the season and there were 7 starters on D lost from last year. As far as the Trinity game, they are averaging 42 points per game and scored about that (39) on BG. (one of which was in the last 2 minutes as our defense wore down) Trinity is an OUTSTANDING team and I am very proud of how our defense played against such a quality opponent. From your comments (and you've seen BG play) it sounds like HHS has the upper hand ....depth, defensive quickness, ability to rack up the rushing yards.
