The schedule Notre Dame usually plays year in and year out is usually one of the toughest schedule in the nation. Yeah the last couple of years, a few of the team ended up not being as good as usual, but usually year in and year out they play one of the toughest schedules in the country. Might want to get that right next time...

 

I must say I love how people's hatred for Notre Dame blinds them to some things...Anyone who knows anything about football knew Notre Dame would be real bad this year. Now did we think they would look as bad as they did to start this year NO..However as I have said now for the 100th time, this team has pretty much all new players on offense and defense this year, and all with NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL...Any coach in the country who would have a team like this in their third year would be struggling...As I said before the real key is to see if they improve as the year goes on once they get some experience, and if people dont let their hatred blind them they will see that Notre Dame has improved some since the start of the season...

 

 

WOW! What could you possibly be talking about? It's Weis' third year at the school and with (count them) 3 recruiting classes, you're gonna say this was expected. What are you on? Any coach with a team like this. He recruited at least half of them, plus the best QB in the country.

 

Toughest schedule in the nation. Yeah! Navy, Army, Air Force, Stanford, Boston College and Michigan State (before these last two years), Syracuse. Come on, really!

I dont know if he's over-rated, but he has a TEN(I'll repeat for those who cant believe it,TEN) year contract. I dont know if even ND could afford that buyout.

Tyrone Willingham was 15-10 after two years, 21-15 overall at Notre Dame and that got him fired.

I've always thought that Weis was a bit overated. He hasn't won the big game yet, not saying he won't, but I don't see ND getting better game by game.

You can ask any ND fan, and they'll tell you Ty didn't get a fair shot. He had no chance to bring his players in, and show what he can do. Weis has brought in back-to-back top 5 recruiting classes, something Ty couldn't do.

 

 

As for the original question, is he the most overrated coach in college football, no. We are just now starting to see his recruits playing. They've got a lot of young guys playing. There's a freshman under center. You've got a freshman and sophmore at running back. There are 3 sophomores on the offensive line. There are a couple sophomore receivers. On defense, there were at least 2 freshman linebackers playing, and they looked pretty good at times rushing the qb, and at other times, they looked like freshman. There are freshman and sophomores in the defensive backfield. I hate to judge a college coach until he has the time to bring in his own recruits. Weiss got lucky when he got the job as he had a qb that fit his system perfectly. Now, he's got a freshman, who many stated was the best prospect in the nation starting as a true freshman. Hopefully, in two years, we'll truly see what kind of coach Weiss is.

Yeah, and what year would they be for the most part? He's only been there two years.

I heard that yesterday too, and I find that very hard to believe. There are more than 7 seniors, and ND usually doesn't have many juco and transfers. Therefore, a majority of those seniors are not from Weiss. And you would think some of the juniors possibly redshirted, which would mean they weren't a Weiss recruit. However, this is the first year that we're starting to see Weiss's recruits play, which mean this is the first time they're seeing the field. This program graduated a lot of seniors off of last year's team.

The jury is still out on Charlie. He has yet to beat a top team and his successful record has been at the expense of middle of the road to fair to flat out bad teams. He's fortunate ND is not the SEC .

Willingham never got fair shot and dare I say was any part of it because he was a minority? He has done fairly well at getting U-Dub turned around.
