September 23, 200719 yr Charlie Weis has been considered God when it comes to offensive football. Given that ND has now reached an historical low, should he be considered the most overrated coach in football?
September 23, 200719 yr He's still 19-10 as a head coach. Notre Dame has been far from what is once was since long before Weis took over. Expectations haven't changed since the glory years but many Irish fans are unrealistic. It's a rebuilding year, the Irish players do not have much game experience at all coming into the season. Today, although still awful was an improvement.
September 23, 200719 yr Yes, yes, yes. The half loaded with cupcakes schedule they play year in and year out made him look real good with Quinn.
September 23, 200719 yr Author I don't know how it's an improvement when the team just set a new low (0-4) for the most storied program in college football. What would a failure be... losing those four games by an average of 100 points????

It doesn't take a win to show improvement. Heck, there wasn't much farther to fall.
September 23, 200719 yr BTW, Weis is currently 2 for 2 in BCS bowl game apperances. Obviously that streak will end this year, but kinda hard to call him overrated. Plus he does have those 3 little rings.

Plus he does have those 3 little rings. Yeah he has three superbowl rings, but only as an assistant. The two are way different. Plus, they may (3) have something to do with a little recent discovery cause he aint doing too hot on the collegiate level. Yes he has two BCS appearances, but they shouldn't have made it last year. Wisconsin was better than ND, but OSU and MICH had already taken two slots. Plus weis and Co. got blasted by LSU.

You don't have give Weis any credit for running the Patriots offense if you don't want to, but at the same time Bill hasn't added anything to his ring collection since Charlie left.
September 23, 200719 yr Author You don't have give Weis in credit for running the Patriots offense if you don't want to, but at the same time Bill hasn't added anything to his ring collection since Charlie left. We'll see about this come early 2008.

Please don't lose sight of the purpose of the Bowl system. If Notre Dame is eligible they will be selected 100% of the time. I'm sure the Sugar Bowl was extremely pleased with how Notre Dame preformed.
September 23, 200719 yr Yes, yes, yes. The half loaded with cupcakes schedule they play year in and year out made him look real good with Quinn. The schedule Notre Dame usually plays year in and year out is usually one of the toughest schedule in the nation. Yeah the last couple of years, a few of the team ended up not being as good as usual, but usually year in and year out they play one of the toughest schedules in the country. Might want to get that right next time... I must say I love how people's hatred for Notre Dame blinds them to some things...Anyone who knows anything about football knew Notre Dame would be real bad this year. Now did we think they would look as bad as they did to start this year NO..However as I have said now for the 100th time, this team has pretty much all new players on offense and defense this year, and all with NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL...Any coach in the country who would have a team like this in their third year would be struggling...As I said before the real key is to see if they improve as the year goes on once they get some experience, and if people dont let their hatred blind them they will see that Notre Dame has improved some since the start of the season...
September 23, 200719 yr Tyrone Willingham was 15-10 after two years, 21-15 overall at Notre Dame and that got him fired. How many millions of dollars over how many years has it cost Notre Dame to "upgrade" to a 19-10 record with Charlie Weis?
