September 19, 200719 yr Why? He was at a political event, asking question's. I might not agree and you might not agree with him. He did not have a weapon and was not a threat to anyone.
September 19, 200719 yr He did not have a weapon and was not a threat to anyone....except John Kerry... apparently he was asking questions that weren't on Mr. Kerry's script.
September 19, 200719 yr I normally don't look at this forum, however I heard the audio at work today and it was very upsetting. I don't care what party anyone is with, this should not have happened in my opinion.
September 19, 200719 yr I think he should have been tased just for wanting to go to a John Kerry event... They should have tased Kerry for........well for just being himself. I don't think they should have tased the kid. I've wanted "W" to shut up for years but even I wouldn't want him tased:thumb:
September 19, 200719 yr After watching the video I think this kid is crying out for attention. On another report of him...he was standing out on a street corner with a sign that said, "Harry Dies", referring to Harry Potter prior to the release of the book. He definitely was resisting being arrested and the police did what needed to done. I think maybe his friends need to step up and get him some help instead of putting fault on the police.
September 19, 200719 yr He was resisting, true. But what did he do to warrant arrest in the first place? I swear, in an effort to afford everyone rights and freedoms, a lot of people's right get trampled on... :thumb: :thumb: Land of the free??? Yeah right.
September 19, 200719 yr I don't care that he was tased; he was clearly resisting and non-compliant. But I don't think it's that ludicrous for someone to ask some controversial questions to a politician. Of course he didn't have to handle himself like a nine year old, and he was obviously begging for attention, but from the way it appears the police may have been a bit quick to get physical. I do reserve my right to change my opinion if, after the investigation, the police say he said something threatening or they were under orders from the University to remove him.
September 19, 200719 yr It sounds like we missed some things before the video starts. First, he had a friend video it so he must have planned on some theatrics. Secondly, I heard tonight that the questioning was over and he approached the mic and said something like "I've listened to you for two hours so now you have to listen to me." So the police were on edge . IMO he was there to make a scene and he got what he wanted (other than the volts through his body, BRO). I don't get the "why did he have to tase him?" questioning. Lets even say that his questioning and his actions were innocent and misinterpreted by the police. ONCE the police said "come with me" and he continued and continued to resist, he's getting tased and deservedly so. If you say "don't tase" how do you propose they end this situation when this 21 year old man who appeared to be bigger than every officer was flailing and fighting the efforts to bring him down? Should they ask kindly? Offer him a cookie? This kid is a known prankster with many of his pranks posted online. He got the attention he was looking for and got what he deserved.

I don't care whether the police were right or wrong. When they tell you do to something, you do it. If they police were wrong, you'll get your chance later to address it. We cannot avoid anarchy if each and every one of us gets to ignore all orders from the police that we disagree with, any more than we can permit our children to disobey our orders that they don't disagree with. Its that simple.

From what I understand, the kid is a professional jerk, but that by itself doesn't need tasing.
September 19, 200719 yr Author He was resisting, true. But what did he do to warrant arrest in the first place? I swear, in an effort to afford everyone rights and freedoms, a lot of people's right get trampled on... My understanding from the policital talk shows last night was that John Kerry had answered his question and the student was not happy with the answer and refused to turn the mike over to the next question. Kept on and on until they turned the mike off and since he was refusing to allow the political forum to continue, the police was going to escort him out of the building. Then you see the rest.

Cops say stop...it's probably a good idea to stop...:thumb:

From what I understand, the kid is a professional jerk, but that by itself doesn't need tasing. So what should the police have done when he showed no indication he was going out willingly? Should they punch him in the mouth? Shoot him? Continue to wrestle him? No. Police have to take control of the situation. That kid had MORE than enough time to succumb and go peacefully. He wanted to make a show of it for his buddy that he had filming it. He got a show alright. "Don't tase me, bro" is my new catchline.
September 19, 200719 yr http://video.ap.org/v/Legacy.aspx?partner=en-ap&g=efce24ec-e914-48c9-9d28-a287aa5b7192&t=s60&p=ENAPus_ENAPus&&f=OHCIN Police tell you to do something, do it. I agree lbbc, but after watching and hearing more on this clown this morning on the news, the guy had staged this entire thing. He was well known around U.F. for staging crap like this. The news that I was watching said this morning that he had handed his camera to a lady next to him and when the camera wasn't on, he did nothing to draw attention to himself at all. Reports stated that he kept looking at the lady (camera) and asking if it was on or telling her to "get ready". My question is this; Is it really that important or do these crap for brain kids really need their you tube fix and 25 min. of fame this bad ? Obviously they do. Maybe they can't get anyone to notice them anyway other than this . Between you tube and my space junk and others like it, this only shows me the incredible amount of "15 min. of fame seeking" pathetic losers that we have in our universities and elsewhere. God help us if these are tommorrows leaders   Just some advice people.................Get A Life, you are not funny and you are not important! People may think that you are out there somewhere and stupid and then some go and pull this kind of stupid stunt and they remove all doubt. To answer your original statement, I agree - do what the police tell you to do and there are not problems. Imo the taser was warranted, I hguess they could have cracked the idiot over the head with a night stick, uh??? He resisted, kept resisting - they contolled him, end of story.
